Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could provide any advice. For a few years now I have almost always got tension in my forehead. I find it so difficult to relax this part of my face no matter how hard I try.

It doesn't very often lead to headaches, but I can certainly feel the tension, that then sometimes spreads to my neck/shoulders as I'm unable to just relax. I fear that sometimes it makes my facial expressions false so that people constantly ask me what's up - which just isn't the vibe I want to give. And that's not even talking about the wrinkles it's starting to give me at 21! 😮

I've done a quick Google numerous times with no real answers, so I thought you folks would be the best people for it! I'm at a bit of a loss, as I don't really want to start Botox so young!? 😀

Look after yourselves,

Kate

Well, nobody but doctors can actually diagnose things, but it does sound like you're under stress or anxiety (and perhaps worrying about this itself is causing that to be worse).

Do you do anything to try and help yourself to relax? Exercise? Meditation? etc.

p.s. it's natural for the forehead to wrinkle, it allows our eyebrows to move, and with age we all get forehead lines to one degree or another; just that many people (women especially) cover it up with makeup; which can often have it's own problems if the products they use aren't natural and good for the skin.

Kate everything in life is a vicious circle. You observe something, it accentuates, then you observe the accentuation, it acccentuates more....you observe more of it as a result .....
Allow the tension. Most people have an idea about relaxation that they have to get rid of the tension. That's why they cannot relax. you say you cannot relax. Truth is you can, it is just what you began to think.

Notice that there is tension. Allow it, breathe into it with a "yes". It will move

As for wrinkles, less you worry about them less and delayed is their onset.

You are 21. have fun and forget about your forehead, think of your knee instead...get my point? Think of something that is working fine.
Don't see a gp about it, you will probably have anti depressants shoved in your hand. Certainly don't seek therapy or help.
Just take it off your radar. Put fun things in your radar and it will have vanish as you stop keeping stock of the situation.
Too much fixing can break. Leave it be

You say you are unable to relax but don't mention what you have tried. Presumably there is no one reason that is causing this; if there is then dealing with the issue would be key - at least coming to terms with it!

You might benefit from positive thinking, i.e. instead of saying you find it difficult to relax (which reinforces the blockage), try saying 'I haven't been able to relax so far' .... that opens the door to the possibility of achieving relaxation!

You could work on it externally, i.e. have you tried massaging where the tension is? Often that undoes the situation. Sounds like you might well benefit from neck and shoulders massage. If you can't afford it, maybe someone you know is able to do this for you (very basic). Here's a short demo on how it can be done.

If it is stress, then looking at what is causing the stress would be more useful than trying to relax one part of your body.
Do you think that it is stress?
