Hi

That depends on the therapist themselves. Each therapist has their own approach to Reflexology as there is many different methods.

I'm more concerned about the quality of the therapist. Are they compassionate? Do they have good tactile skill?

As for what reflexology is good for, scientifically claims made are considered fairly anecdotal. But feedback from clients suggest good for constipation, headaches, mild anxiety and depression, lower limb sports injuries, claims the nervous system, improves gait, hormonal issues, popular for or during pregnancy and so forth....... and that term that skeptics question: "detox".

Since the theory of reflexology suggests that the whole body can be treated, it can potentially has an input into any dis-ease process. As many people ask about complementary therapies, does it work? All depends on the levels of vitality in the body, the skill of the therapist, and if it's an appropriate therapy for what is being treated.

If there is a specific issue you wish to work with, that can be discussed with the reflexologist. A good therapist will always do a consultation first before treatment.

Only going for a treat to be honest and was an offer with discount from work - so what will I feel - relaxed? And if I don't say I have some issues would a good therapist pick them up

Your therapist will do a consultation before and please mention your health conditions as some require specific changes to the treatment. I do get clients who forget to mention things and when I tell them afterwards the areas of congestion, they will tell me a niggle they have with that area.

Some people have no issues come up but just say how wonderfully relaxed they were during and after the treatment.

My advice would be go in with no expectations and enjoy!

I did enjoy it an hour of having feet massaged but I didn't rate the therapist in any shape or form got more information from a Reiki Master when I came out who told me more in five minutes than an hour with the reflexologist. Therapist picked up on nothing when I know I have health issues or problems.

Therapy isn't about picking up things tho. I sometimes pick up on things when I give reiki or indian head massage - but not every time. As a therapist I create the optimum conditions for healing to occur . It isn't necessary for me to pick up on anything the patient has not told me for that healing to occur

Well it didn't do anything for me if I am honest apart from sitting for an hour which is rare. I've had it before when the therapist picked up on a lot of issues. I felt I had wasted my money if I an honest. The Reiki woman however, in less than five minutes was brilliant.

It certainly sounds as if either the therapy - or the therapist - was not right for you. I am glad reiki was good tho. It is quite my favourite therapy 🙂

had reflexology before and found it good - I'd say therapist - she was very young and told me she had done it half heartedly before then decided to give it another go - so that was alarm bells - nice enough but not experienced enough I felt
