Hi everyone

I'm just starting training as a reflexologist and we've been reccommended a lafuma recliner. However, at this present time, I do not have the 140 pounds to buy a lafuma so i wondered if anyone had any good reccomendations for cheaper alternatives?

Thank you

Leanne

You could try looking online or asking in magazines for a second hand Lafuma, people do sell them quite frequently.

However I think there's way too much emphasis put on the need to have a Lafuma. I have a lot of pregnant clients & once they're past a certain stage they often aren't comfortable lying in them anyway. Also I work doing house calls in Central London & there's no way I can drive between clients so I use public transport and can't lug a Lafuma around with me on the tube, so I've had to improvise.

If you're visiting clients there's always the alternative of just getting them to recline on a bed, or even a sofa as long as they're well propped up with pillows or cushions under their head & legs, their feet resting on the arm of the sofa. (This also has the major advantage of meaning that if they are in their own home they can stay resting after the treatment - always very popular with clients!).
Otherwise If you're renting a room in a clinic then most therapy couches can be adjusted perfectly well to accommodate the reclining body, again with a few pillows for support. Just always be sure the client is comfortable before you start.

I've never had a client complain about either of these options. Its the treatment you're giving that counts not whether you have a Lafuma or not!

Good luck.

I bought a 'zero gravity' garden lounger. I think that it doesn't come up at the feet end quite as high as a lafuma and the arms are hard but I put a duvet on it to provide extra comfort & it works a treat and was about 1/3rd of the price of a lafuma.

They were selling something very similar in the garden furniture section of The Range during the summer 😀

Thank you for replies

I don't seem to get notifications when my post got a reply, hence the delay in reply. Yeh, I'm going to look into those options. Thank you 🙂

Hi Leanne,

Your setting on your profile seem to indicate that you should get an email notification of replies to your threads, so not sure why you didn't. Perhaps the email system was playing up, or perhaps it was because you were still on initial moderation (which I think should be lifted now for you).

Let us know if the problem continues and I'll get the site admin to have a look for you.

All Love and Reiki Hugs
