Hello everyone
Just undergoing some stress at the moment and feeling tired and fatigue and was thinking of taking a B Complex supplement.
Found a timed release one which contains Vitamin C and the B Vitamins are B1 100mg, B2 100mg, B6 100mg, B12 500ug which says 20,000% RDA. Just wondering is this B12 too much as 20,000% RDA sounds alot but maybe that's ok for stressed folk like me?
Thanks

Well the B vitamins you list are unbalanced. This is because they work synergistically/together so because Vit B3 (niacin) and Vit B5 (Pantothenic Acid) are not included means that they will lead to a deficiency in these 2 B vitamins. You would be better off buying a Vit B complex that has all of the B vitamins represented.
Vitamin B is water soluble so anything more than what you can use is a waste of money and will just be lost in urine.
RDA is for a reason....
For stress, I suppose you know that calcium is good for this too? It should be balanced by taking it with magnesium though since they work together (for best effect).

Although they are all very high quantities (in terms of the RDA) it could well be you need more than the average person so it
may not all go to waste! I take a very similar Vit B complex daily - partly to offset stress but also it's a boon if you have not had enough sleep i.e. staves off getting irritable.

Yeah I just feel I need a little something to help with the tiredness, low energy etc. I'm struggling lately with my diet so need to get the fresh fruits/vegs back into my body and yes I get irritable as well.
It's difficult to overdose on vitamin B, since B vitamins are water soluble and therefore, excess B is excreted through your urine.
RDA are I would say not taking into consideration the state of the individuals health prior to taking supplements .
When you are deficient in any mineral it stands to reason that you need more of it than someone that just wants to maintain a healthy balance .
B12 seems to be a common deficiency ..

Thank you daz. Yeah B12 seems to be a common one and think I'll start this B Complex soon and hopefully the tiredness and energy levels get better!
It'll likely have an effect on your normal body function in some way, whether it's beneficial or detrimental I don't know. It's highly unlikely exceeding any recommended intake of Vitamin B will have noticeably negative consequences though.
