Hi ALL😉
My elderly aunt has SHINGLES 🙁 and I was wondering if any of you could name a couple of herbal remedies that are proven to help. I heard of one recently, but can't for the life of me remember what is was [&:] Unfortunately, it's really difficult getting her to take ANYTHING, so hopefully there's something relatively easy and not too YUKKIE tasting. She says that the pain is excruciating [:'(]
Thanks a million,
@nnie [8D]
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Annie
Shingles is probably a sign that she is run down, and so a herb such as echinacea or garlic could boost the immune system.
You could also try making up a mixture of lavendar and chamonile essential oils in a base oil, and dabbing on the area. I used this for chickenpox and it worked a treat.
Good luck
Lynn
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Annie
I have used an Aloe based spray for Shingles.
Aloe is a natural anti inflammatory. It is packed with 98 essential enzymes, minerals and nutrients including anti bacterial and pain relief properties.
It really does work and I used a spray called Aloe First available from Forever Living Products. Check out [DLMURL] http://www.pure-aloe.net/products [/DLMURL]. Passcode FFF77507 for more information. Their products are 100% pure and organic - no chemicals in sight which has to be a bonus eh?
Forever Living also do a drinking gel which is Apple and Cranberry flavoured. 2oz daily would maintain a healthy immune system, give an amazing boost to the energy levels and help with other known challenges like arthritis, IBS and urinary tract problems. If your aunt definitely doesn't like taking tablets etc.. then this drinking gel is a good source of ensuring she gets her daily amount of mins and vits and it can be mixed with fruit juice if preferred. It is quite a sweet taste though so I don't think that would be necessary.
I wish you aunt well - shingles is really horrible but the Aloe First spray definitely eased the pain for me and it can be used as often as neccesary with no side effects at all. So whatever she decides to do - I wish her good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Be well

Hi Believer
You could try 2 essential oils that would help they are Ravensara Aromatica and German Chamomile. I would mix one or both of them (about 4 drops In total) to 5mls of aloe vera gel and dab the affected area. Both of these oils work on inflammed nerves and both are analgesic, I have used these oils with clients of mine and they have been very effective.
Hope this helps
Love and light

RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Shingles is a re-awakening of the chichen pox virus that our system doesn't kill off - it just retreats & goes dormant. Usually right next to one of the spinal nerve roots, so when it flares up it tracks the path of the nerve from the spine outwards & round the neck or trunk. Really nasty if on the face. [:@]
Rears it's ugly head when stressed & run down.
One of hardest things in life is having to watch loved ones that won't help themselves!
🙁
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
THANK YOU! THANK YOU ALL OF YOU 😉 for this wonderful advice!
Will go shopping tomorrow and MMmmmmmmm we can only hope & pray for an enormous improvement thereafter! 🙂

Was going to advise something similar to Silverwings. I know exactly how your Aunt feels I've just got over a bout of it. I had it for over four weeks and it was excrutiating, unfortunately I had it inside my mouth and throat, boy was that painful. I thought they were just mouth ulcers but as they got worse I had to give up and go to the docs. He gave me antibiotics, but said that he didn't like to because shingles tends to go away of its own but as it was inside my mouth he thought it had better be given a little extra shove.
I'm sorry that I can't think of much more than the camomile, lavender and ahoha?(spelly attroc.)
I hope your aunt gets better soon.
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Essence
A great idea to mix the essential oils in a base of aloe vera gel, I would never have thought of that.
Hi Believer
Hope your aunt is feeling a little better.

RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Annie
Here are my suggestions:
Vitamin E with Selenium contains antioxidants that work co dependently in the body to help destroy excess free radicals. Emerging research suggests that it may not be possible to obtain optimum vitamin E levels through diet alone. Both of these nutrients are often lacking in the modem diet due to food processing and high-tech farming methods. Further, mineral content of soil naturally varies in different parts of the country, making it difficult to be sure youre getting the necessary dietary intake of vitamins and minerals. You can make sure you're receiving enough of these two antioxidants.
Vitamin E speeds healing, prevents scarring and reduces pain. Vitamin E assists the immune system, protects cell membranes from viral attack, and helps prevent the nerve damage responsible for residual pain. Oil from a vitamin E capsule can be massaged onto the skin several times daily. This may relieve discomfort and help avoid any scarring. If shingles are present on the face or near the eyes see an ophthalmologist immediately since these ophthalmic herpes can cause blindness.
Stress reduces the immune system's ability to fight off infections such as shingles, so it is important learn to relax and avoid where possible stressful situations.
Hope that is helpful, I hope your Aunt is feeling a lot better soon.
Warm wishes
Sue

Hi Loraine,
You may or may not be aware but advertsing the products you sell on HP is against the rules.

Just in case the good advice posted for shingles hasn't worked, I recently read an article in a reflexology mag that pear juice is very effective for shingles pain. Drink the juice and then eat the pears pulp. Reflexology could also help with easing pain and boosting the immune system. Check with the Association of Reflexologists for a local practitioner.
Hope auntie is better soon.

RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Dear friends;)
Once again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! My aunt was finally admitted to hospital yesterday (my Mom's intervention) because she'd become so dehydrated, through simply refusing to eat [:@] and even getting her to drink water had become a mission. I visited her last night & again today, & she's feeling so much better already, just through receiving adequate liquids through a drip, and being forced to eat a balanced diet - in fear of being fed through a drip. Her specialist's comment on her otherwise excellent health seems to have given her a new lease on life, and she's totally convinced that that's a direct result of only ever having taken asprin for 'anything' throughout her life, & only once ever (2 months ago) a course of antibiotics when a rare bout of flu developed into bronchitis (sp?) which she now blames for the shingles! :D:D:D
You've all been TOPS! 😀
Love and light,
@nnie[8D]
PS: Amazingly enough, she's agreed to zapping when she returns home, determined to rectify whatever imbalance the antibiotics may have caused. A month ago, she wouldn't have heard of it 😉
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Gilly
Thanks for the advise.
Hope I didn't offend anybody - I do tend to get a bit carried away in my desire to help people with their 'challenges'.
Before I registered with HP I used to read the postings and noticed that other people were promoteing their own products therefore I presumed it was ok to do so.
I'll go and have a read of the rules and regs.
Regards
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Lorraine😉
I certainly wasn't offended 😉 in fact I'm totally confused:eek:
I didn't think that you'd done anything any differently to many others here [:-] but then, I've travelled that road extensively and refuse to go down it again [:@] instead, I'm happiest just observing, reading what's of interest to me personally & mostly, SMILING :D:D:D
Thanks all the same. I also love Aloe products, but as long as I know the source. Far too many so-called 'healthy', 'natural' and 'organic' products are being sold globally that cause more harm than good, because they contain harmful ingredients (mostly solvents used in the extraction or even bottling process). Through personal experience, 95% of suppliers say their products are solvent free (most in my experience haven't a clue how the ingredients were extracted from their original source) & only about 5% ever admit to not knowing 😮
Love and light,
@nnie[8D]
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Hi Annie
Thankyou for that - I was feeling concern that I may have offended you guys out there and I definitely didn't want to do that
I agree with you about Aloe though - 100%. Many companies (and i'll not mention names) use the whole leaf Aloe and the outer leaf has no benefits to us at all - in fact, it passes straight through our system.
Forever Living Products use only the inner leaf and have a patented stabilising system which is 'cold press' so as not to weaken the quality of the 98 vitamins, minerals and enzymes that Aloe naturally contains.
However, I won't get started on that coz I don't want to put my foot in it again. An internet search for FLP will bring forth their head office website and anybody that's interested in the quality of their products will find the information there.
Thank you once again for your comments Annie.
Have a great afternoon all.
RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
Oh Lorraine 😉 You're most welcome .... but I was only writing the truth ... as I really am confused 😀 😀 😀 As for the product ... MMMMMmmmmmm now that's what I like to hear & USE! 😀
Hugs,

RE: Shingles .... any advice most welcome?
As you are in South Africa, there is a company on the road between Knysa and Capetown that grows and produces Aloe vera products by the coldpress method. I cant remember there name though. I used there lipbalm on my coldsores, brought on by the sun, its a linked virus, and it cleared up faster than usual. They have a lovely shop at the farm, and you can see over the preparation area.I will e-mail some ZA freinds and see if I can find a phone no,luv Ells
