I was wondering if anybody could suggest anything for me.
I have never really had a problem with my sleep but over the last week or so I haven't been sleeping all the night through and also finding it hard to get to sleep.
I had a glass of wine last night :0) but still I didn't stay asleep... I am abit stressed at the moment and suffer from depression (I am on anti-depressents) and they normally make me sleep...
Any advice would be grateful
Thanks

RE: I'm not sleeping very well at the moment
Heye Angeleyes
I find that Valerian tea works wonders. I use Dr.Stuarts Valerian Plus tea bags from Holland and Barrett. They smell like sweaty socks when you open the box, but they seem to do the job. One cup half an hour before bed, not brewed too strong (i.e. take the teabag out after a couple of mins) otherwise it tends to give me a headache.
Actually since doing Reiki I haven't had to use the tea bags so much, I can meditate and do self healing lying in bed and easily fall into a nice sleep.
Hope things get better.
Love and Reiki Hugs

Reflexology is very good for sleep problems.

Hi AngelEyes,
I find that burning Mandarin and Geranium aromatherapy oils in my bedroom for about an hour before I sleep helps me to nod off quite quickly.

oh yeah,
Aromatherapy-wise, I found that Petigrain works wonders. quite an earthy smell, but certainly relaxes.

Hi AngelEyes,
Needless to say, wine before bed is not a good idea.
We have recently had a full moon, perhaps that has affected you?
Reflexology and herbal tea, I agree should help.

RE: I'm not sleeping very well at the moment
Hi
Sometimes just "setting the scene" before you go to bed can really help.
When I am stressed and have a lot on my mind, like say worrying about an exam the next day, an important meeting etc, I get stressed the night before and can’t sleep.
I find it helps if you just take time out, for the last couple of hours before you go to bed, only do things for you.
Ban the TV, Unplug the phone, Run the bath, light some aromatherapy candles, and nice smelling bubble bath, put on some calming music, do a face/hair mask, put big fluffy PJs on early, read magazines and try not to think of anything that is stressful or important.
Just let your mind wind down slowly.
Hope that you sleep better
Jo

Hi Russ
Are you saying that a glass of wine before bed is a bad idea for anyone on medication, or just a bad idea, and if so I wonder why?
I've just posted something about the full moon in the Healing forum, on the thread What's going on?, since it does seem to be affecting quite a few people.
Hi AngelEyes
If I ever have difficulty getting off the sleep - which thankfully is rarely - I do a visualisation. I pretend that it's a cold, dark, horrible winter morning and the alarm clock has just gone off. Then I imagine that I can "hear" the milkman delivering the milk, and the newspaper boy and the postman. I tell myself that I'll get up soon and go to work, but first I'll just have a ten minutes snooze......
I've never known it to fail![sm=sleep.gif]

EDITED to add the alarm clock, with thanks to Hopefull for the reminder

I can vouch for Holistics visualisation!
Only last night I was having trouble getting to sleep, and I remembered the visualisation that Holistic told me on another thread, it worked the first time I used it, and it worked again last night! Thanks Holistic!;)
RE: I'm not sleeping very well at the moment
Aaaah, thanks, Hopefull, my day has not been in vain then I'm so glad it helped, though I'd forgotten I'd already posted it in another thread. The fact that I'm repeating myself, combined with memory loss is, however, very worrying ;)[&o]

Hello Angel,
Try Binaural Sound to get off to sleep. It's just a sort of low droning sound but it can entrain the brain to mimic the brainwave patterns of deep sleep. As always, works for me or I wouldn't mention it. You can email me if you need an address.
Love,
Judith

Dear Hopefull
You're absolutely right, I had posted my tip in Hey Hopefull, I checked back last night and realised I'd missed out the alarm clock, so will edit my post above. Thanks for that (and the trip down memory lane - I had a laugh or three all over again) [sm=hug.gif]

RE: I'm not sleeping very well at the moment
Hello,
Wine does affect sleeping patterns... There are many peoplel who react differently, but in general white wine tends to prevent one from falling asleep. Red wine may make you fall asleep more eaislly, but you have more chances of waking up in the middle of the night and not get back to sleep. I knew someoen who couldn't fall alseep at all if he had drunk alochol in the evening, despite feeling very tired...

RE: I'm not sleeping very well at the moment
Thanks, Artemis, I found that very interesting, especially the difference you outline between red and white wine and sleeping patterns. I can't drink red wine any more, it makes me feel toxic, but a glass of white with dinner I'm sure aids digestion. Since I don't like to have a main meal too late at night, I'm quite often hungry again by bedtime, so I have a small snack to avoid "night starvation", and generally sleep like a log. I guess I must be one of the lucky ones

hey, i'm not a doc and do not know your condition, but from i understand with those on anti...they're only suppose to take them for 6 months at a time.
maybe, just maybe, since you're having a reverse effect on sleeping patterns...maybe a sign to stop taking them? or maybe your sleep isn't related.
in past on a number of occasions, i use to make a circle around my bed with sea salt and also lining around my entire bedroom walls inside of room. it certainly made me a very peaceful and restful sleep! if you're not able to move a heavy piece of furniture, it's okay to put salt around it. make sure to use a continueous line of salt when doing so. **** but it is VERY important to valcum the salt within 24 hours or else you will depleate and way down the energy in your room!!!! best to disgard bag in trash.
you can also set out a cup of water by your bed with or without adding some sea salt. when you wake up, pour cup into toliet and flush twice. DO NOT drink this water, though. you may also noticed a change of color in morning of salt water!
amethyst crystals are helpful with sleep and also lavender oils.
this is all that comes to mind right at the moment.
*edit...and if you choose to try this, make sure to buy fresh salt that is sealed in bag or container.....never ever buy salt of any kind from tubs that allow you to scope out exactly the amount of salt you want...for salt is excellent in soaking in "negative" energies and to whomever has dished out some salt from these tubs...actually that salt just soaked in some of their energy!
