Hi Carly
Welcome to HP 🙂
Your comment here caught my attention and seemed to stand out against the rest of your post. It seems after you had looked at your addictive behaviour, a choice seems to follow afterwards, possibly risen from that part of you wishing to lift away from the addiction.
Yet it seems something else then came to your awareness which left you feeling that you no longer had a choice. Consider coming to a point where you come to believe that choices are always yours, where you are the choices may have played a part.
Consider looking at that thing which you believe takes the choices from you, how much control over you does it really have? or that you let it?.

I know i always have choices, I just have a habit of taking the wrong ones?!
I'm not entirelly sure where to start with turning my lifestyle around.
And in that I need help, after that it's up to me to make the decisions that give me more energy, more quality of life etc.
😮
Hope that makes some sense!

Hi Carly
Yes understand.
Usually with any sort of addiction depending of its severity are driven by some underlying condition. The conditions driving the addictions are not always concious, and you may or may not be aware yourself the actual thing driving the addiction.
Consider discussing with an experienced local counsellor near you, one who has experience in addictions, who will help you explore these underlying conditions, helping you to break the cycle.
Reason why I say this is that once you begin to open the theraputic doorway to exploring the causes may take some time and indepth talking depending on the conditions,Im sure there is some good advice people can give you on HP, But addictions must be explored and looked from within yourself and within your own environmental upbringing. Meeting a counsellor in person can greatly assist you as well as getting the most benefitial help.
Feel free to express as you wish I am sure other HPers may provide some good advice. Going back to your comment ' I just have a habit of making the wrong ones' maybe this is a good place to start looking at the choices made, why were they wrong? does making the wrong choices change the way you see yourself as a person?
You also mentioned requiring more energy, a need for quality of life, struggling and fighting repression and suppresive negative thoughts and memories tend to mentally drain a person in turn depleating the energy. sometimes may lead to depression.

Ok, how I'm reading the post is you want help with your addictive personality as oppose to quitting "something" like drinking, smoking, sugary food etc etc . . am I right?
Errm ok, if it's a personality thing then I'd ,maybe consider seeing a specialist as the individual things you list - alcohol, sugar etc can be approached differently and for different reasons.
I'm not going to try to dispense advice that I'm not confident in but one thing I would say that I do have experience of is you need to keep your motivation for changing at a high.
First week you quit/change something in your life you are usually all fired up and sticking to it is easier but then your motivation gradually gets worn down and you end up slipping again - that's what seems to happen to most people.
One thing I learned through personal experience that works - I can't take all the credit for this as someone told me about it - was that say you are trying to get in shape, everyone hits the gym and diets regularly but most do not train their motivation regularly.
Your motivation needs constant "training" and topping up on a regular basis as very few people can keep it at a high without regular "motivation training".
This can be as simple as looking at quotes or videos or pictures of where you want to be - the end goal - regularly or it can be more in depth as to reminding yourself "why" you are doing this. Either way you need to train your motivation regularly - ideally every day - and in my experience this REALLY helps a lot.
Anyway that's just little bit that I can share so hope it helps and good luck!

A tip that might make things easier. If you've been eating a lot of junk food and drinking a lot, your body is probably starved of nutrients - if you can, begin to make home cooking a priority: roast chicken, mashed potatoes home made gravy and veg. Home made soups. That sort of stuff. Real foods that fill you up and nourish you reduce cravings for junk food.
Find a good quality omega 3 supplement, eat avocados and eggs, olive oil, butter and get a b vitamin supplement.
Don't put yourself under any pressure - it's about building new habits. Do it one day on one day off if it's easier, then two days on, one day off. That way, you're still allowed a 'junk food' treat. Eventually your taste buds will change and fast food will start to taste like cardboard and a biscuit too sweet. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.
Best wishes, Alison
First of all I want I say that this thing is really good that you want live a new life better life. You can do it. It's not difficult just need little bit motivation. However, You can start from jogging in the early morning.

Yes it makes perfect sense to me. This is the kind of thing I help people with a lot either with life coaching of hypnotherapy. And I would suggest you consult a hypnotherapist to get some help. But I know where I would start if you were in my consulting room - identifying the secondary gain you get from your current lifestyle. No-one keeps on with any behaviour unless they get something from it.
You CAN make the changes but you undoubtedly need some help to identify the unhelpful thought patterns trapping you in your current position,
Good luck
You might consider shamanic counselling, which can often help those who use it to turn their lives around deeply and quickly.

How does shamanic counselling differ form normal counselling
How does shamanic counselling differ form normal counselling
In shamanic counselling the client is first taught to connect with his or her own helper spirits. Then, over 5 or 6 sessions, the client journeys to ask the spirits for help. It is the client's own spirit helpers who do the counselling. The shamanic counsellor uses his or her shamanic experience to help the client come to an understanding of the journey answer.
Combined with soul retrieval and extraction (shamanic healing) the counselling can lead to the issue being dealt with very quickly - 5 or 6 sessions is generally enough if the client is really willing to engage.

Hi Carly
Generally speaking, addictions form our profile and who we are. All the habits or how we manage our life come from our addictions - some of them are beneficial and some not. It is the way that we see life: dreams, expectations, purposes etc.
Brain and especially the subconscious tends to match the results with stereotypes, for example in the movies a macho guy desired by beautiful women is a smoker, drinker or playing cards. So, the subconscious relates the willing to be attractive (result - expectation) with a macho smoker (stereotype). This is more or less how we configure our personality as we grow up.
To change the harmful addictions we must replace the stereotypes associated.
But first we must figure out which addictions are the worst. Writing down a list helps a lot as you make the problem more obvious when you read it! Then wright next to the problem why you want to change it. This is THE KEY for the whole procedure! Determine the reason that is the most important for you, the reason that MEANS something FOR YOU…(This was the approach that helped me to stop smoking after 23 years).
Finally, try to visualize yourself free from your addiction - what would be your life, your routine, your family, your friends without them? Do you like what you see? If yes, search for people with similar lifestyle (that are worth to admire) to replace the stereotypes and….you are done - for ever!!!
All these may seem over simplified but in the end, isn't the small simple things that all the great things are made off?
It is all in our mind
Start it by controlling self and changing your lifestyle. It is difficult at first, but it is a way to be healthy, addiction is a state of mind and all you have to do is change it and that well be a good start.:)
