I just found out that humming is an excellent healer. It helps for stress, sinusitis, insomnia and lowers your blood pressure. Amongst other things. It can even improve the way you brush our teeth! Takes no time, no money, hardly any effort .... who knew?

PS I forgot to mention my own experience with it: I sleep a whole lot better since I hum regularly in the evening. Just anything. The other things I don't suffer from, so I cannot say.
Thanks for this! I didn't know that it could help lower blood pressure - timely info since I am doing a eulogy next week. (Although humming doesn't come easy at such a time!)
I can always tell if my partner is happy and relaxed by the way she hums - although, of course, that is exchanging cause and effect from the posted articles.
Has anyone worked out why it is good for you?
One of the things it does is boost your nitric oxide. Which:
• Helps memory and behavior by transmitting information between nerve cells in the brain
• Assists the immune system at fighting off bacteria and defending against tumors
• Regulates blood pressure by dilating arteries
• Reduces inflammation
• Improves sleep quality
• Increases your recognition of sense (i.e. smell)
• Increases endurance and strength
• Assists in gastric motility
().
Mind you, too much NO may cause blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, faintness, sweating, and unusual tired- or weakness (). Which is a reason not to overdo the humming.
When I first found out about it, I was humming away heartily, for ages, at the computer and then the letters became blurred ….. The blurring went away very quickly once I did something else and now I limit the humming to just a few times a day and not while on the computer.
Humm, well I will give this a try!
Help, how do I start? I looked through the articles but what do I hum? are some things better than others? can you start me off?
Personally I just hum what I like. What feels good. What suits my mood. I now have a repertoire of songs which, in a not always recognizable version, come back time and again. Just start and follow your feeling! Though some sites are more specific, but I have not looked into that yet.
I agree with you.:D
