Hello people:D
I am after a bit of advice.
Over the last few months I have noticed my teeth turning a horrible brown colour. I don`t smoke or drink coffee. I am a vegetarian.
I have spoken to a number of people to find out why my teeth are going like this and it seems people put it down to diet. I am deficient in vitamins.
Can anyone here let me know what I am deficient in?
Can I reverse the marks on my teeth?
Thank you in advance for all your help.:)
RE: discolouring on teeth
Have you taken any antibiotics recently?
There is also a particular mouthwash that if used over a period of time can cause tooth discolouration.

RE: discolouring on teeth
:DYes I know of mouth washes that can discolour teeth, I only use these when absolutely necesary, so that isn`t the cause.
I am generally healthy so don`t need antibiotics. I tend to avoid tablets as much as posible.[:@] I am into natural remedies rather than doctor prescribed stuff.
thank you for the ideas

Does your dental surgeon not have anything helpful to say about your condition?

Dear Sally,
If you know that you are defincient in vitamins, then you may want to try and up your intake of fresh fruits and vegs for a while to bring things back in imbalance. Maybe your GP could do a blood test to chekc out what you are deficient in?

RE: discolouring on teeth
Sally,
Can I ask when roughly was the last time you had a scale and polish?
RE: discolouring on teeth
Yes a polish & scale should perk them up! 😀
Other possible causes:
Do you eat many curries, as I believe that can cause staining of the teeth.
Have you changed you tooth paste recently. I started using the Neways one a few years back & after a few weeks & my teeth yellowed over a matter of a few weeks. I'm not saying that caused it, but the toothpaste I was previously using - Colgate I think, must have being keeping them white, probably with one of the harsher ingredients. [:o]
From a nutritional point of view the obvious one would be Calcium. Either your not consuming enough or your body is not absorbing & utilising it efficiently.
The first is easily rectified & the second may be improved with NAET treatment, as this is one of the most common nutrients that people have difficulty metabolising. This theory would explain why osteoporosis is so common and the situation isn't helped by the fact that most calcium supplements are calcium carbonate (chalk), which is inorganic & the body cannot absorb it properly. [:o]
If your going to try supplements, then the best is colloidal calcium, but expensive. Next best is calcium citrate, but should ideally taken with Vitamin D, magnesium, manganese & boron. 😉
There are various propriety combinations in health food shops. If, after a couple of months there's no change, then I would suggest NAET treatment, as this may be a sign that your general health isn't what it might be. 😉
In the mean time a more abrasive toothpaste may help, such as one with baking soda or you can add salt to your current paste. 😀
RE: discolouring on teeth
Forgot to mention!
The link with antibiotics is related to taking certain AB's, normally during childhood, when teeth are growing.
The classic ones are:
Tetracycline - giving a grey discolouration &
Penicillin - causing a yellowing of the teeth.
😀 - And.
RE: discolouring on teeth
thank you for all your input.
NO I don`t eat curry at all, don`t know of any foods that I eat that may discolour teeth.
I haven`t changed my diet or my toothpaste recently.
I don`t take medication.
I visit the dentist every six months and on my next visit i will be asking why my teeth have recently developed this staining.
I have bought some calcium and vit D supplements to see if that helps my teeth.[&o]
Again thank you all.
