Is it common for daily headache sufferers to have a LOT of (one sided) neck/shoulder pain? (neuro thinks its transformed migraine) It has been present since the second week of my two year headache and seems strange that headaches are getting easier but neck/left shoulder hurts like hell. Could it be cervigenic headache? Pain is in angle of neck and shoulder and feels like a tight stinging pain. Neck and shoulder pain is present daily although headaches are easing and i do now get half headache free days. Please help me!!
RE: Daily headache - One sided neck and shoulder pain
Hello Jatiro,
Sorry to hear you're in so much pain for so long. Go & see a chirpractor or osteopath immediately. Sounds like you have cricked your neck. However I can only give an opinion from personal experience & am in no way qualified medically to diagnose you.
Why have you seen a neuro though? have you got other stuff going on? Be sure to tell the osteo/chiro everything in your history if you have. If there is any doubt they shouldn't manipulate you. You could check out the Osteo/Chiro threads & get other opinions.
Hope you feel better soon

RE: Daily headache - One sided neck and shoulder pain
Hi there
I also think you may want to get a dental opinion as some migraine / headaches are as a result of TMJ problems.
May I suggest that you seek out a Bowen Therapist in your area who may be able to help with your headches and the neck and shoulder pain.
If you are lucky enough to have someone who is training in the Emmett Technique, see [link= http://www.rossemmett.com.au ]http://www.rossemmett.com.au[/link] , practising near you,I am certain that they willalso be able to help you with the neck problem fairly quickly. We are currently very thin on the ground in the UK, but the first course run by Ross Emmett is now just done it's fourth module [only 2 more left to go!]
If you need more info do send me a personal e-mail
Best wishes

RE: Daily headache - One sided neck and shoulder pain
more than likely trigger point pain referral from either levator scapula and or sternocleidomastoid,
both cause headaches, research travel and simons trigger point pain patterns on google and it should give you info, iportant to restore full range of movement in neck rotation and side flexion which will be compomised, see it quite often in my job as sports therapist and have been a fellow sufferer.

I will agree with your dr.
Visit chiropractor, he will, I am sure, solve your problem
