I went to a Reiki share last night and during the treatment I found it very hard to relax. I had a background headache while my crown chakra was being worked on and around my solar plexus I felt nauseous. These feeling only came back as the practitioner worked on these chakras. I felt fine afterwards but while I worked on her I felt the exact same feelings around her same chakras. I have neglected my reiki over the past 9 weeks due to life really. I am currently revisiting issues from my past which have never been dejunked properly. So was my reiki experience connected to this? I am wondering if I am feeling a physical sensation is it deep layers which have finally been peeled away and are now ready to be shed. I always believe that the physical is the top layer of deeper layers down to the emotional. If anything it has highlighted how much I need to self heal again.

I have come across several people who have experienced nausea when working with the solar plexus. I think that it relates to long-term emotional turmoil or unresolved issues. In this case, the nausea relates to the release of the emotional problem so I see this as a positive reaction for you. It sounds like the work you have been doing 'dejunking' your past is paying off! It sounds like a lot of energy was being drawn into the solar plexus area. I had a client a while back who also did reiki (i'm not sure whether this contributed to it or not), but when I was working on their solar plexus I felt nauseous myself and the flow of energy coming through me was so intense that i momentarily blacked out. Luckily, I didn't collapse but I had to kneel down and steady myself for a bit - then when I moved away from the solar plexus I was fine. A very strange experience but it didn't put me off doing Reiki so don't let this experience put you off either. The solar plexus seems to be a point for a lot of people which they experience physical sensations.

Thanks

Lavandula, thanks for your reply. I am by no means turned off Reiki from this experience. If anthing I look apon it as a very positive response to cutting of the ties with past issues. To be honest it has restored confidence in me that I am on the right path of healing and the best plan is to keep going with it. I suppose it is a motivation I have found from within myself, which I beleive is the only true motivation needed.

I am curious as to how you know or believe it to be related to long-term emotional turmoil or unresolved issues. My RM also felt this to be the case. Most probably the correct analysis but could it not also be a new stress or emotional turmoil??

I don't know but I do believe that it is related to long-term/past emotional problems. For some reason I think that new or current stress/emotional turmoil would affect the head more than the solar plexus. The solar plexus as a chakra is related to trust, fear and intimidation, individuality, ego, personality, self-esteem, self-confidence and self-respect, responsibility for making decisions, sensitivity to criticism, fear of rejection and i'm sure a lot of other emotional/mental issues too so sensations felt in that area could be linked with one of these but as the sensation was nausea (the stomach and other digestive organs are related to the solar plexus) which is a bit more of an uncommon reaction compared to for instance heat and tingling in an area, i believe the problem to be more rooted, a tension that has been there a while that has had time to manifest and build. This is just my opinion though.

Interestingly, Louise L Hay links nausea to fear and the rejecting of an idea or experience and Deb Shapiro also says that nausea is a physical representation of rejection - something you don't want to absorb, integrate, or deal with. This would link to unresolved issues!

It would be interesting to hear other peoples views too.

I tend to agree with what's already been said. Definately some kind of release going on. I'd suggest, when the nausea hits, focus on your breath and imagine that area of unease expanding outwards, becoming finer and finer, gently spreading outwards and dissolving as you release the issues.
