RE: Excretion or Secretion - Hmmmm?
Hi there,
I would say that the answer is excrete.
The Louise Tucker A&P book says under the Interrelationships Section of the Urinary System that "the urinary system removes waste by excretion and therefore links to the other excretory system - the skin".
Also under the skin section of the book it says that some toxins are eliminated from the body throught the skin via the sweat glands. Under the sweat gland section it says "these excrete ....".
Secretion applies to the sebum which comes from the sebaceous glands.
I would therefore have to agree with you and not the tutor. I came across some questions in our school tests that I was not convinced were correct according to the book that we were using.
I would go by whats in the Louise Tucker book if it's the ITEC A&P you are sitting.
Hope that this helps to clear this up.

RE: Excretion or Secretion - Hmmmm?
It's a fine line if you look at the dictionary definitions....
excrete v. (-ting) (of an animal or plant) expel (waste matter). excretion n. excretory adj. [Latin cerno cret- sift]
secrete v. (-ting) 1 (of a cell, organ, etc.) produce and discharge (a substance). 2 conceal. secretory adj. [from *secret]
secretion n. 1 a process of secreting. b secreted substance. 2 act of concealing. [Latin: related to *secret]
I would say it's excrete because it's expelling waste matter rather than producing and discharging a substance.

I suppose your tutor doesn’t understand either anatomy or question.
Secretion - done by ‘organs’, inside ‘system’ (incl blood)
Excretion - done to outside, away (ex-)
Swearing (2 types) contain some fluids incl urine acid.... this explain relationship with kidney
Secretion - it is probably about adrenal glands that secret hormones in blood stream
Blood pressure - related with function of kidney regarding reabsortion and Fluid
