The Stillness of Creation
Anyone who has studied Reiki will be aware of the concept of channeling. Although we may not fully understand it we can accept energy coming through a person rather than from the individuals themselves.
This energy is from the spirit through the spirit to the spirit.
Unfortunately our childhood and early development can leave us with some strange ideas about who and what we are. Far stranger and potentially more damaging than the concept of channeling energy, we are conditioned to believe in our ability to make things happen, control situations, and the ethos of achieving anything through determination and hard work. If at first you don’t succeed double and redouble efforts until you achieve your goal. We are brought up to believe that might is right and that we can achieve anything if we are determined enough.
This is a noble virtue when applied in a balanced way but sometimes our egos create a no win situation where no amount of effort will get us the results we desire. In these situations we become so determined to make something happen we fail to recognise that some situations do not require determined effort on our part, they require knowledge and understanding and a willingness on our part to let go and do nothing.
We believe that anything of value requires hard work and if it is to happen then we must do something with the results being in relation to the effort we put in, the more we do the more we will achieve.
We have the ability to provide for our basic needs and we are taught to use these skills and abilities to become independent and self-sufficient. On a physical level we feel competent in our ability to get what we want and need. Society provides the framework in which we live. It’s rules and regulations determine what is acceptable and necessary for us to survive, this structure determines our actions and the results we can achieve.
Our problems arise when we try to move away from the physical plane and apply the same tactics on an energetic and spiritual level. Having learnt what works in the physical world we try to apply the same principles in every situation in the hope that we will get the same level of success. We learn what works and we stick with it, even when we don’t get the results we want we stick with what we do best. We do so out of stubbornness, anger, guilt, but more often than not it’s because we don’t know any different.
When we fail to get the energetic or spiritual results we want, we know from experience that “It” works so the problem must be with us, we must not be trying hard enough.
If we keep on trying harder then experience tells us that we are bound to get what we want, what we fail to realise is that in this situation an increase of effort on our part only leads to us “spinning our wheels” and getting no where. This can lead to anger, frustration, guilt and self-doubt.
Physical laws work in a physical world and our five senses determine what we understand to be real. Our senses provide a framework we are comfortable with and experience has shown us what works within the framework we call life. Unfortunately what works inside this sensual box does not necessarily work outside of it, and if we dare to venture beyond the limitations of our physical world we do so laden down with unnecessary baggage.
We believe that movement equates to direction and achievement, if we are stationary then we are lost, lazy, or inactive. We view stillness as a waste of time and energy, we are failing to do something and we all know that “anything is better than nothing”. This desire to do something, no matter what, presupposes that we know what we should be doing in the first place, but more often than not we haven’t a clue what we should be doing or what direction we should be going in. We see this as failure and so we try even harder in the hope that we will get lucky, get a result that will give us some kind of direction.
If you believe that our free will extends into the spiritual realms then a
