RE: Listening to the soul ? Or the ego ?
Hi Lorraine
Yes, it's good isn't it, when we get to the point where we can recognise what is going on in our dealings with others. It seems to hinge on awareness: sometimes it seems so obvious that it's strange when the other person doesn't realise what it's all about. IMO it also helps us not to feel like helpless little boats bobbing on the waves; we are able to choose how we react to any given situation or person. (Which is not to say that I don't still get my buttons pushed from time to time!:D)
Much love, hugs

RE: Listening to the soul ? Or the ego ?
In answer to your question Sunanda, no I haven't sent the flowers ............ I feel a t adeep level that I would like to , but there are some reservations that it would not be completely free from some negative emotions , and this to me seems that it would pollute the action ........... so I will wait to see what happens as I work through my feelings.
The calmness and the peace is persisting and so I take from this encouragement - along with the lovely words from everyone on this thread, and trust in the unfolding of the situation.
Even in difficulties there is a real sense of wonder at the spiritual intelligence of it all ............
Thankyou all again !
With love Ru xx
RE: Listening to the soul ? Or the ego ?
Now, here is my question. Is it not feasible that, on a soul level, before taking birth this time around, Ruminumi and her sister (who in previous lives may or may not have been family members, may have been 'enemies', may have harmed or been harmed by one another) have agreed to a contract whereby Ru, for example, has said that she will stay in her sister's presence for as long as her soul can stand it in order to a) help her sister's development and b) aid her own progress along the path by allowing herself to be tested by her sister's negative energy?
Jumping back in again. Absolutely but we need not to think in terms of right and wrong. I have been channeling for about 20 years and so although this makes sense to me, just because it is channeled does not mean that it is the "gospel", but definitely worth thinking about. Often in group sessions we get into these types of Karma talks. I call this the Karma story and it may be a little long for the list but oh well I will do my best to shorten it... Man was originally a vegatarian and noticed that the larger stronger animals ate meat, so one day he decides it might be good for him. The animal killed the meat, the man killed the animal and grew stronger. In time, another man noticed how strong he had grown. He too wanted to be strong so he watched and discovered that the man was eating meat. So the next day, he waited and after the man killed the animal and took the meat, he killed the man, took the meat and Karma was born between them. In another life, they came back together to work out this Karma. The first man is now wiser and knows that he must watch the first man but eating meat is now common. He watches and when the second man has killed an animal and taken meat, he gets his due and kills the man and takes the meat. Eye for an eye. They continue doing this lifetime after lifetime until they finially become aware enough to team up and kill the meat together and learn the lesson of cooperation and get off the wheel of Karma. Most family members have Karma that has been cycling for many lifetimes but we do not grow at the same rate. Eventually one will say, I have learnt that this behaviour is not benefitting either of us and refuse to participate as Ru is doing. Her sister may or may not get it in this lifetime, but Ru is not done yet either. In more lifetimes, she will see this same behaviour around her to test if she truly has got it, often people at this level become teachers, healers, social workers etc. They have to help without getting sucked in. Then there soul will no longer need the experience and they will not draw the energy to themselves. As Ru moves away from her sister, she is very likely to become surrounded by other pairs who are experiencing the same energy that she and her sister have shared. This can all happen in one lifetime is a person "gets it" or it may take lifetimes, especially if you decide you do not have the strength to complete the contract. We see this with abused women who choose one "bad" guy after another until she gets it that she does not want this energy or drama in her life. True "soulmates" and family members usually have the heaviest baggage when they are working out Karma. Families that do not seem to have "issues" are here for the purpose of creating Karma to learn new lessons, sort of setting up the stage to work out an element that soul wants to experience in human form. Some times Karma can still be worked on in Spirit and I have seen family members use me as a medium to admit and attempt to resolve Karma that they did not want to admit while they are here. And even though we may understand it, we seem to become idiots when we are in the pits of it. My sister and I have had some really weird stuff over the years and I doubt we will work it out to the point that it is totally released. We get along fine but it is still under the surface, issues of control as there is 13 years difference in our ages.
RE: Listening to the soul ? Or the ego ?
That rings true as well Vivian,
two of my closest friends are having EXACTLY the same issues with their sisters !
I am struggling a little with feelings of guilt - that I should stop 'being horrible ' ( my thoughts ) and make efforts to bridge the gap, like I have done so many times before, but I suspect that is old programming , and I know that it would lead me down the same old path: this is not acceptable to me any more. A strange mixture of emotions to be feeling.
My youngest sister returns from her holiday this weekend, so it will be interesting to see what happens . She has a wise head on young shoulders and I don't think she would interfere.
Vivian, is there any foolproof way of knowing that you are not just being weak and avoiding your own karmic issues ? I am confused about this - I am no saint, and apart from the feelings of peace and relief about the parting of ways , I have no real way of knowing.
Love Ru xx
RE: Listening to the soul ? Or the ego ?
No,not a foolproof way. But your awareness will really increase when you are around these types of situations. True avoidence in this case would most likely require you to sever all family relationships because there are natural events that keep us tied together. Plus, there is actually a lot of good karma that you receive from all family members also. Often the negative is so overwhelming that we forget when this person actually gave us a gift. Say for example you only have to be in this sister's physical presence three times a year, the more you are away, the more likely you are to begin to see her positive qualities and learn what you miss that she has contributed to your sole growth. We all know people who completely cut themselves off from their families and there can be two reasons. They are avoiding the Karma or their Karma is independence because of previous total dependency and powerlessness, excessive abuse at the hands of a group. It is like any new skill that we might learn. Say you wanted to play the guitar and you start as a young child. You leave that teacher behind as you grow but you may occasionally run into your first teacher in public. They will most likely push the same buttons with their remarks as they did when you were a child as a test to see how much you have grown. As you and your sister get older, you will each still push each others buttons but you will notice that at 40 you still react by pushing back, by 60 you react but have leant not to give her any of your energy and have developed enough awareness that you just mentally throw it off as childish and something you have outgrown and by 80 you will be able to look back and laugh and say that this was one one of the most tumulteous relationships of your life but that you gained more from it that most any other relationship. She put you through "hell" and you survived. Those that don't survive just become bitter, hatefull, revengeful people. This is one of the ways you can tell if you are avoiding or working your way through. Hardest Karma's start as children so that we have time to grow through them. They take a lot of energy. As we get older and if we have chosen the path of wisdom, lifes seems easier but in reality we are in the process of setting up new Karma. As we grow, we get some little "aha's" along the way which tell us, "Oh, I am treating that person just like my sister treated me. I can't believe I am doing that. And we learn to put the energy back into a healthy state of being or we have created our next tests."
