Hello Mac,
Just noticed your name on another thread and thought I'd say hi! I'm very sad that HP is a shadow of its former self - there were so many lovely people and it always felt so safe here. I've been on a couple of FB groups (loathe it) but oh my goodness, when you get trolls and vile language - no, HP was never like that. Why people like FaceBook is totally beyond me.
I have only popped in here since I finished a mammoth thread on WW1 on Nov 11th last year on the Christianity pages.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Love and peace.
Judy
Hi Judy
It's a long time since we were regulars here. 🙁
My view is that spiritually-focussed, forum-based websites are totally out of fashion. The Facebook format doesn't suit me but I expect many potential website newbies - here and elsewhere - are drawn by their overall fascination with FB's speciality pages. Thankfully I'm too old for any such nonsense! 🙂
I do, though, contribute to and administrate a spiritual/afterlife website and I am a regular contributor to a couple of others. They service my interest in discussions about those topics. HP is definitely no longer the place I once enjoyed coming to but fashions change and we have to adapt as best we are able. 🙂
I'm doing fine, thanks, and enjoying the Arizona sunshine with my wife. I hope all is well with you and yours too.
with love, mac
Hi Mac,
Thanks for your quick reply! The sunshine sounds great! 😉 We've got some here today, but it's very watery...
I'm glad you've made and found a good space for yourself and I'm sure it's helping others. I ended up "by accident" on a website that was originally where people asked questions and academics answered them. (Begins with Q) It's not FB format and what I like is that you can go back and edit anytime. Sadly they have started advertising and paying people for questions and it is now flooded with silly nonsense, but if you spend hours wading through, there is some really good content and I'm contributing (only answers) in all sorts of areas.
I'd rather still be on HP all the time, but it started to feel like one-hand clapping. 🙁
All the best Mac.
Love and peace,
Judy x
I'm still here. 😀
I know Giles - bless you! HP really wouldn't be the same without you. 😉
I am going to start a new thread in Christianity soon - one the equality of the sexes and in particular, one woman who broke through the glass ceiling of the British parliament - Nancy Astor. More later!
Love and peace,
Judy
Hi mac, and Energylz. I see the name Principled here as well, all about 6 years ago, so HP is certainly quieter than the place it once was!
I just happened to be corresponding on Facebook with a couple of guys, and one was harking back to the good old days when the internet was free, with no commercialisation. The subject had just come up that Meta/Facebook had suddenly asked everyone whether we wanted to continue for free with ads or -- pay to have no ads. So that kicked things off about the commercialisation and control factors on the internet these days, What a zoo it's become!
Got me thinking of how it used to be nice and friendly, and extremely active (!) here on HP. Obviously it's gone quiet as people gravitated towards broader platforms which millions are on. Of all the people I once knew here, some face-to-face, I daresay some aren't even around, or it would take the medium of a medium to get in touch.
I was on HP in an active way from 2003 to around 2010. I see I last posted here 12 years ago. If anyone wants to drop me a "hi" by all means do so. 🙂 Am in good health, obviously over all these years a lot has happened, good and bad, but life is OK and rather calm at the moment, in a nice place.
In contrast to the impersonal nature of the mass-platforms today such as FB and such, back in the day here on HP we actually organised face-to-face group meet-ups! I attended two or three in Bath, and got to know a small number of people in real life. Good times. I hope anyone I knew reading this is doing well. Just popping in to say hi. xx
"Venetian" 🙂
