I recently harvested my first lot of home grown radishes. I had loads and wasn't sure what to do with them all so I searched the net for some radish recipes. I came across a recipe for Black Bean and Radish burgers - . I made them at the weekend but used black eyed beans instead of the black beans and they were really delicious. I'd highly recommend that you try it out. This is the best vegetarian burger I've ever made and held together really well unlike all the other burger recipes i've followed. I will definitly be making this one again.
Yummy - that looks delicious. It will go perfectly with my home made Caribbean Mango Chutney with Ginger and Cardomon and some lovely fresh salad leaves.
Thanks for posting Lavendula.:)

Your home made mango chutney sounds amazing! I never used to think much of mango chutney but it has really grown on me recently.
Unfortunately, it wasn't me who made the chutney - it was a gift from my friend who lives in the Caribbean - she made it and brought some over for me. She told me she freezes the mangos - they are lying around all over the island apparently and they are perfectly useable after that. Also she mentioned that she freezes bananas and not to be put off if the skin blackens.
It is a perfect relish to go with your lovely radish and black bean burgers.

So you can cook radishes?
I am so surprised at this... I never knew that radishes could be cooked and there was me, wondering the other day if they can be cooked!
sliced radishes are really good added to a stir fry right at the end, especially the ones you let grow a bit too big.
I also like them roasted in a sort of Chinese style:
Slice the radishes in half lengthways and toss with peanut oil on a large baking sheet.
Roast for 25 minutes-ish (190ºC/gas 5), turning once or twice, until the radishes are tender and beginning to brown.
Drizzle some light soy sauce over the roasted radishes and toss with a few chopped spring onion.
Roast for a further 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with sesame seeds and coriander, garnish with some rocket or mizuna leaves and serve.....
Thank you Muzone.. I have never put them in stir frys,,,, now I am really curious as to what they taste like! But I will wait till tomorrow!
( And I've never used peanut oil.... )
Thanks Muzone for the tips!
I love the idea of using radishes in stir-frys and will do so next time I do one. Equally I love the sound of the roasted radishes too - our local greengrocer has some giant radishes on sale at the moment, so will have a go.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that radish greens (tops) can be used in soups and for juicing, but somehow don't fancy getting the pricked in my mouth! Has anyone tried them?

I eat them raw in salads, I bit like rocket really with a more substansive texture.
