I thought it would be nice if we could all come up with some positive affirmations specially for children that might be helpful for confidence, self esteem, calm and peace..etc

Here is one to start off

I am glad to be me.

RE: Positive Affirmations For Children

I gave a Reiki treatment to a prospective student and on the wall either side of her computer there were two 'scrolls' which had the most positive affirmations on them. I asked her where she had got them from and she said her daughter's school headmistress gave them out to all the children that were leaving Junior school to go up to the 'big' school. What a wonderful headmistress!!
I asked this lady if she could copy them and we could use them in my Reiki class but unfortunately although she paid her deposit she didn't turn up on the first day and when I rang her she said she wasn't well. I agreed to carry her deposit over to the next class but once again she did not turn up and to this day she has not been back in touch so I never got copies.

Love and light

Hi Halimah

I've racked my brains on this one and cannot come up with anything.

I looked back at when my children were young and confidence especially, they didn't seem short of initially. I think it is only as they start at school and mix with their peers that problems seem to set in.

My son I later discovered was bullied a bit at school as he wasn't the tough 'stand up for yourself' type and this went on for some time until apparently he picked up a chair and wacked the bully with it.

After this the bullying stopped. I knew nothing of this until he told me some years later. It is a sad fact that violence settled the issue but I suppose to the bully and other onlookers he turned from wimp to a force to be reckoned with in one swift action.

I firmly believe in telling the children yourself. My kids have good self-confidence so it's not a problem but then I have always told them they are great and that I love them. You can't say it enough. One of mine always assumes that I don't like him if he has behaved not so well, but I always point out that I still love him anyway and it has surprised him. Hope that helps.;)

my daughter is 22 months and is a very confident little person and knows everyone loves her, especially her mummy, i am always telling her i love her and at an early age has been very affectionate and loving back.

I am thinking of other children that i come accross who are not as confident and sometimes troubled. i help a charity for deprived and disadvantaged kids, many of whom are also disabled or have problems. Been doing for a long time from a horsey point of view, either pony rides at fetes and fundraising or getting kids to meet ponies, especially the autistc children in my case as ponies help them a lot..all sorts. lately have been giving some reiki to them and tey seem very much to be told some positives etc.

Hi Halimah

I am sure your little daughter will thrive due to love you give her.

I am a firm believer in contentment beginning at home. As you are fully aware with your dealings with other children who are disadvantaged, if their home foundations are not secure trouble will be stored for the future.

I was sickened a few years back when I saw the lynch mob out to get the murderers of James Bulger. Of course the two boys involved needed punishment but what people failed to take into considerations was, these were 10 year old boys who themselves had been abused as children. When you have never known love and kindness yourself you feel resentful and want to treat others how you have been treated.

I know the feelings because I was ill treated by own mother.

I must agree with orange blossom, although it is vital that children have a secure and loving home life, you cannot account for what happens in school, and children can be the cruelest people, you will never know what is being said to them in school or anywhere they are that you are not, all you can do is be there for them, and try and overcome whatever self doubts they have.
Unfortunately it only takes one horrible teacher, or one persistant bully to undo what it has taken you (at home) years to achieve.
I was bullied when i was in school and it makes no difference what people tell you, the bad 'stuff' always prevailed over the good.
