RE: Green Wing

Have seen this twice although I fell asleep towards the end of Friday's episode. Not from boredom, I should point out, just through exhaustion. This is very much my cup of tea, I think it's hilarious. Would one use the term 'anarchic humour'? I loved it when the ? office manager thought the dishy IT guy had given her a birthday present when really it was her secret doctor lover. The characters are so recognisable, just tweaked into the grotesque. Likewise the situations....It seems to be one stage further on from 'Coupling' which I also enjoy.

Missed the first episode but caught the second.

Saw the last half of the third.

Saw all of the forth.

I loved it at first it, seemed quirky and funny. The filming techniques of running it fast in places added to it. I feel now though that it is running out of steam, there's only so far you can go with the characters and their weird ways.

It is a bit strange and there's a lot of OTT moments...however, I did laugh at the bit where the consultant radiologist that stalks Joanna (the personel manager) jumped out of that cupboard playing his recorder and prancing around pixie style[sm=rollaugh.gif]

I love it. I think the characterisation is really wonderful, and it's a real achievement that despite the bizarre nature of the show, Icare about the main characters - even the awful Guy.Brilliant.

Love it! :DIt's about the only thing on TV that makes me laugh right now. Guffawing loudly is a necessity.

- even the awful Guy.Brilliant.

Yeah Guy…"Anaesthesia is the new rock 'n' roll" :D.

Have to say I loved the scene with Sue, Mac & the harmonica and the Martin & Karen kissing scenes with their flicky tongues and her appreciative arousal noises… hilarious.

And how the hell did guy keep a straight face when Toad (sic) was licking his face? [sm=rollaugh.gif]

I thought the tongue scene was brilliant too - I was just telling someone who doesn't watch the programme about it.
I liked the one where Guy was the Arab lady. But it was just all so good. As good as The Office. I could watch it again and again, and I probably will, as it's bound to be endlessly repeated on Sky.

I LOVE it!

I have that song "and they swam and they swam right into the dam" in my head, though the lyrics were changed slightly in the programme! 😀

It's such brilliant casting. I cann't imagine anyone else playing the roles. Genius! 🙂

Yes I'm back again for series two. Not only that, we rewatched all series one that they put out again last week and the week before.

I know it is only acting but the way Guy and Mac try to score points off each other and both turn on Martin seems to echo how men in a group make friends. Unlike us women who love a gossipy little chat men seem to bond by upstaging one another.

Definitely anarchic, Sunanda. I'm very sad because I forgot to watch it and this is one of the very few things I really enjoy watching on TV. Boohoo:(

Oh - has it come back for a second series? Yippee! Hope it's still showing when I get back (April 23rd). I'm extremely jealous to read all these cryptic comments ('self seminating' 'toad licking his face' - it just gets better!) BTW is Mac the ginger haired one? If so, I have to confess to looking him up on Google because I think he's luvverly. (Good heavens, I'm going all girlie!)

Hope it's not on too late as I don't have a video recorder.

Hmmm, not like me to be a dissenting voice (ahem), but I'm not yet convinced. I absolutely loved the first series but can't help wondering if the second has just gone too far OTT. I did laugh out loud and there were some great scenes, but was it possibly a teeny bit TOO silly? Maybe it will settle down a bit after that first episode - I hope so!

[sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif]Brilliant again this week!

I can only remember a couple of funnies and they certainly weren't the funniest at all (It's just that I think I'm developing a thing forSue the Scottish one... she must have soooo much fun making this show).:)
Scottish Sue:
“Do I look like a mug?…Have I got a handle?…Am I kept in a wee cupboard?…Do I hang from a little wooden tree?…Are you keen to get your lips around my rim?”
… …“You can answer the last question, the others were rhetorical”

Dr. Angela Hunter (to Sue White:)
“I… have a hypothetical question…”
Sue:
“Yes, well I have a hole-punch… so lets not get too cocky shall we” [&:]

I don't get it. Please explain....or am I being slow?

Otherwise I love Green Wing. I watched a programme about its making. Did you know that a lot of it is improvised, the actors make it up as they go along and the editors just splice it together! Genius!

RE: Green wing

i dunno how i missed the last series but i did watch some of the repeats a few weeks back, after much bullying and threats of being made to sit and watch the DVD from start to finish in one go! 😉

yes... really liking it... great characters... but argh dr statham just makes me squirm, i cant stand him!! what an irksome little man! he'd get a quick poke in the eye from me, to be sure!

i'm not one to quote from programmes, reminds me of monty python watchers [8D]... but i did like the exchange between sue and joanna, doing the who is more important...

sue: "well what are you good at, apart from being tall and menopausal?!" [sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif]

Hehehe...yeah there are some good bits. Do think it can be a little OTT in places but I'm still enjoying watching it.

I am a little concerned about Michelle Gomez who plays Sue White though, I have to say! Is she reallyhuman?!!

I'm still enjoying the programme - what an excellent group of comic actors they are. I'ts unusual that the good parts are evenly distributed between the men and women. I agree with Rosie's comment about Alan Statham - but what a talent Mark Heap (the actor) has! Did you see his acrobatics on the bike, the casual pocketing of the silly putty ball - and his general talent for being..........horrible... He started out as a juggling street entertainer.

Mark Heap was also in the series `Spaced` with Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson.

He played the the manic/depressive artist from upstairs. A totally different roll to Alan in Green Wing. As you say a superb actor, as they all are.

RE: Green wing

Hi Sharon,
Iwas well impressed with his antics - so that explains it (where did you find this info?) ... butI do think that he is brilliant... even though he makes you cringe, but that'sthe art aint it I suppose he's just so good at it, hahaha when he read out hisname badgeto the film crewor the "take it back" skit... it'sall magic.

Thanks orangeblossom for reminding meabout 'Spaced' - another series I adored... I might be a bit biased as I'm always bigging up British Comedy ( I enjoy "Curb your enthusiasim" too becauseit has an oddly british flavour and jsut wish it was british actors to carry it off) but I thought that Shaun of the Dead (sp) was well funny (same guys as Spaced).
Ido admit that Ilove Scrubs though (even though it's from the other side of the pond)... ooo I think I've said too much [sm=wave.gif]
