I would really welcome people's ideas regarding this experience I had last night. I do reiki at a comunity centre once a week. We do 15-20 min sessions on a drop in basis, people can have reiki , reflexology, readings etc.
Last night while treating my second client, I became very giddy, I could see yellow and red fuzziness. I stopped and said to the lady that I was very sorry but I would have to interupt her treatment and start again after a small break, she was fine and had a relax. i took myself outside and did a few grounding excersies and returned to the treatment. As soon as I placed my hands on the solar plexus area, I couldn't see; the colours returned and I felt very dizzy. I took a step back but could not shake the feeling. I asked my guides to take it away but it remained. The next thing I know the other healers and centre manager are picking my up off the floor!!!
The manager completed the session for me whilst the others loooked after me giving me healing and a chat. After the treatment the manager said the lady had 'a lot of issues' and was drawing in a huge amount of energy. I didn't do any more reiki after this and had more healing myself and a back massage , helping me feel centred again.
Has any one else experienced anything similar? What do people think happened?
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Hi
This has happened to me too - twice! Both times I was doing Indian Head Massage for a friend of mine. Reiki started coming through immediately and I was feeling intense heat around her third eye, I managed to get about half way thru the massage but I was feeling so dizzy and hot (I was actually sweating - nice!) and seeing vibrant colours - I really thought I was going to pass out. like you I kept asking my guides but in the end I had to stop and sit down!
After a few minutes I felt ok, but abandoned the IHM and carried on with just the Reiki - as I felt this was what she really needed - again the heat was intense and I didn't feel 100% butcontinued sitting down. Afterwards she said that she had kept seeing the image of her uncle who had passed when she was a child. We chatted for a while and she was fine with everthing.
A couple of weeks later the same thing happened again while I was doing IHM for her - it was exactly the same as before. We'd joked beforehand about wether or not I'd make it to the end of the massage this time!! But once again as soon as I put my hands on her head - I felt dizzy and hot so stopped the massage, composed myself and carried on giving her Reiki sitting on the floor. Again she saw theuncle.
I spoke to another friend who has been doing Reiki for years and suggested that it was all to do with the uncle coming thru and using me as a channel ?????
But I don't know!!?? It's never happened with anybody else and I don't know of anyone else who has had the same experience - until I read your thread! To be honest I felt sort of relieved that it wasn't just me!!!
I'd love to know any thoughts / explanations that anyone may have ...............

RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
hi Aimsworth and Carrie Ann,
Just to say I don't know of any answers to this and I'm interested to see what responses you get, but I have felt physically sick when my hands were on someone's solar plexus during a Reiki treatment. I changed tack and did some EFT/Emotrance with the client as she had strong feelings in that area: it related to a crisis they were going through. I tried Reiki again afterwards and it felt different, released, and she was much more relaxed about the situation.

RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Aimsworth,
Looking at some of your previous posts, I noted you had some issues you were working through back in January.
How are you within yourself these days? It may be you are very sensitive to the energy of others and this affects you in this way.
You are Reiki 2 which means you have a connection to the Reiki guides. Perhaps ask for their assistance to help hold the Reiki energy for you as you treat others.
Remember that Reiki comes through you and when you are working with Reiki you are not alone and don't have to do everything yourself. Ask for the help of your Reiki guides. Do you still self treat at all?
Best wishes
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Thanks for your replies......
Carrie Ann, I am glad that other people have experienced this, i was worried that I had done something wrong, but as I was taught that reiki can do no harm I was a little confused.
The people i work with have varying interpretations, some said that the lady was taking in a lot of energy which came thru very quickly and strongly and made me feel ill. One of the spiritual meadiums thought that perhaps a spirit had come in too close and as I am not familiar yet with working with spirit this was too much for me.
I don't know what other people think, but a spiritualist healer told me that the solar plexus can cause feelings like this when a healer places their hands on the area as this is where people draw in a lot of energy. When a person you are treating is stressed they draw in alot of energy to the crown and solar plexus. He told me that it is adviseable to avoid these areas and draw the energy away from the head. I am doing my own research into this as it does seem to contradict some of my reiki training.
Mr_ firstlight...... thanks for asking.. i am really good at the moment was a bit wobbly at the start of the year, I feel that I have worked thru alot of personal issues and when I felt ready I started at this centre. in general I am a very sensitive person and I think the key here is more grounding and protection.
I am now going to do some guided meditations to connect with my guides as I don't yet feel that I have fully connected yet.
Still as with everything I felt it was something I needed to experience to further my development, I just hope I don't have a repeat of it soon!
Many thanks guys

RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Hello Amy, it is good to be able to say hello to you.
I just wanted to share with you……..
I once felt faint, when allowing a treatment for someone and what happened was I just slid slowly onto the floor.
My immediate thoughts was that I had got it wrong. So much at first that all I could do was blame myself, for getting in the way of the healing.
But afterwards, as I sat at the top of my stairs, it just came to me, that in fact my guides understood, and that really it is alright cos my experience is just part of it all, it isn’t about getting it right right right.
And knowing this, I was able to continue with learning how I can work with healing energy.
Looking back now, I think that the problem was that I allowed my energy to get in the way.
So what I do now is, I just ask;….. not my energy; healing energy only.
The almost-fainting experience was just the once, but I thought that I would just share it with you.
Hope that all goes well for you…..
With Love, Flit
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me.
I had a really good session this Tuesday and not a hint of dizziness. I have been doing lots of self treatments and taking care of myself.
I also took some fruit, nuts etc to eat between treatments as I do get very hungry when using reiki, and I wonder if my blood sugar levels got too low.
Anyways, thanks to all for their input.
I will put this all down to experience.... it certinaly has got me thinking about energy and how it works- i have done lots of research in my search for a reason!!
Lots of love

RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Hi everyone
I found this thread because I searched for Reiki & dizziness because that's what happened to me while giving Reiki to my husband today.
I came over so dizzy and faint while treating his head area. I felt the dizziness come on as if it came from one side towards me and then engulfed my head spreading downwards. I sat down on a stool just by me and tried to consciously ground myself and carry on with the treatment but the dizziness continued and got stronger and I thought - Oh, am I being taken over? (I have experienced that feeling ofabout to be taken overbefore though not while doingReiki and that time I said aclear NO andit went away).
I thought I was going to collapse in a faint so I gently told my husband that I wasn't feeling well and then I slid to the floor. Shortly after I lay quietly to meditate and felt calm and centred.
Anyone any ideas about this? I have had strong suffusions of tinglingduring treatments but not dizzyness that I felt I would go unconscious. I am just glad it happened with my husband and not with a client.
Do you thinkthis happenedbecause the energy was too much for me? I try to be a clear channel but maybe it was building up in me and not going out the way it normally does? All your opinions are welcome - thanks in advance for your replies.

Epinay,
When you speak in your post about being taken over..is this a good feeling or a bad feeling?
It may be that you are being "taken over" by Reiki, being used as an "empty vessel" for the energy...which is no "bad" thing. Is it?
I personally believe we are totally protected when giving Reiki and that "lower" or "negative" energy cannot reach us. We are too "high" for this "lower" energy to reach us.
Perhaps also you are growing spiritually and beginning to hold more light. There are areas of consciousness in which we are "unconscious" and as we begin to sense these areas we can go "unconscious" for a while. Breathe, relax, be open, be fearless, worry not. Ask also for help from your guides and Reiki guides and the Angels for some assistance on feedback on what is happening to you. Be open to insight and intuition for the way this assistance comes to you.
All the very best
Bryan:)
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Dear Bryan - thank you so much for your reassuring reply.
I wasn't at all frightened at the time (unlike the other time when I felt like I was being taken over and said NO), so maybe it was the Reiki energy coming through very strongly. I think its true that I am in a process of Spiritual growth and I willlook for guidance from my Guides and Angels.
Do you thinkit likely or possiblethat the recipientwas putting up a barrier (unconsciously)so the energy was 'damming up' in me to cause the overwhelming feeling? I rarely give Reiki to my husband because he is very down to earth and although he honours what I do, he israther sceptical. I believe it's good for me that he is so grounded in the NOW because 'grounding' has been an issue for me in the past.
I feel fine now - good in fact. By the way, I'm nearly finished the Power of Nowand think it is absolutely brilliant - so much truth is illuminated in the pages of that book. I need to study it more and put some things into practice more but I recognisedthe truth contained therein straight away. Thank you.
Reiki Blessings

I don't know Epinay. :)For me, the client "draws" Reiki through me and so they "take" as much as they need. The flow of Reiki therefore regulates itself; so if your husband is consciously or unconsciously putting up barriers, then it should have no effect whatsoever on you as Reiki is intelligent and knows what to do.
It may be that you were "trying" too hard at a personal level. This could easily be so for someone we are "attached" to. When I give Reiki to my wife or friends I am just an observer and don't really "care" (if you know what I mean) what happens. Perhaps cultivating this detachment might help?
Occasionally also, I monitor my crown, 3rd eye, throat and heart chakras with the intent they remain open so as not to get in the way of the Reiki. My intent is to keep these chakras open and clear. Remember also that when giving Reiki we are also receiving Reiki and it may be that the Reiki was also healing aspects of yourself. Maybe even a part of your relationship which is coming to the surface but is not yet "conscious"?
I wouldn't worry too much about these things. Simply accept them and ask for intuitive guidance. An answer will come. It is important that we love ourselves unconditionally too and refrain from judging ourselves too harshly too or trying to be "perfect" when we already are perfect in our imperfections. We are loved no more and no less than for who we are exactly as we are right now. Nothing we do will make us more loved at a soul level and we need to surrender to this and not try too hard. We can simply be ourselves and true to ourselves and this is important..living and accepting this very moment as eternity and good.
Cheers
Bryan

aimsworth YHPM. plz take care people.....any loss of conciousness should be viewed as serious.
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Apologies for the delay but i have been doing some intensive detoxing....what fun:D..., anyways aside from any personal health issues such as low blood pressure [worth checking]or heart rate which can cause fainting i know alot of medicine women around the globerefrain from healing others during their time of month, and i see no reason why reiki should be exempt from this practice....and if memory serves the fainting issue came up at a share once for discussion....also ive only ever heard of women complaining of it, being a bloke i cant really speak from self experience but i would erge women to listen closley to their bodies and their guides on the matter and the wealth of shamanic wisdom on the matter particulary re. womens mysteries.
RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Hi Wolfen, many thanks for this, very interesting, I will look at my dates.
I went to the dr's today actually and I have slightly raised blood pressure, normally it's on the low side. I am having the usual blood tests and have to go back in 2 weeks. Hopefully there may be some answers there.
Will look into what you suggest.

RE: Your thoughts please, fainting during treatment
Ummm, this may sound silly, but the only time this happened to me, I had forgotten to breathe properly.
I was very relaxed, and very much into the treatment, and just was not breathing properly, more like when you are asleep, your breathing becomes slower and more shallow. When I moved to a different position, I felt lightheaded and sicky, like just before you pass out.
I only know this because someone else in the room had noticed just before I went woozy.
(Not sure of the time of the months though, may have also been that)
Have been more aware of my own breathing, and have worked on steadying my breathing before treatments and meditations, and have had no problem since.
