Hi All,
I am setting up a few rooms for different therapies - What equipment, furniture or other things do i need for a reiki room please?
Could you please help with even the smallest things
Thank you
RE: What equipment do i need?
I use music so something to play music on, nice calm lighting (dimmers are good so you can have stronger lighting for consultation then dimmer for treatment) I use a professional treatment couch and bolster although I would also recommend a comfortable chair for those unable to lie down (I have had clients who could not due to the effect on their head and balance). An area for the consultation would be good. For the couch I use covers and covers for head rest, disposable are the easiest. A drink dispenser for glass of water after would be nice touch. I also use incense and most people really enjoy this addition so somewhere to safely burn incense would be good. Top of head I cant think of other things but probably have missed things out. Oh and locked filing cabinet to store client details. Hope it helps and I like the name that you settled on its very nice :DGood luck and let us all know when your up and running - shame im not in your area [:o]

You need a couch/massage bed that is of adjustable height. This is because Reiki goes to where it is most needed, and if a therapist is uncomfortable, then the Reiki will tend to go towards their discomfort rather than the client.
I agree with the light dimmer, or you can get soft lamps/lamphades.
A music player is very useful too.
I would disagree about and advise against incense, as many clients have allergies and sensitivities which are made worse with it. They normally say nothing and you simply lose their business (and they feel bad).
You also need something to cover the couch, and pillows to prop the client up in a comfortable position is handy too. At least two chairs are needed for the consultation.
Make sure the toilet is clean and tidy, plus an area for brochures is nice too.

I understand where you are coming from newagelondon but my clients always love it and most tend to mention it every time they come!
What I do is when I first speak to a new client I discuss the use of both music and incense in advance and that way if I ever do have someone who does not want either/or it is on their notes and I cater for it.
I used to be a migraine sufferer and am very sensitive to smells but find that Sandalwood or Nag Champa Sai Om are not sweet enough or over powering enough to cause me problems so if you do go down the incense route they are good ones to try.
Mmm yes brochures, new I would miss something out, the plastic brochure display stands are really cheap on ebay!
All the best xx

A soft cosy blanket for the client to snuggle under.
Rose water to cleanse your hands or some dry soap.
Some people smudge before they give reiki.
I sometimes use chakra stones or chakra silks.
