What is the best way to clear your enery field after giving a reiki treatment? Usually when I give myself a self reiki treatment I fall asleep mid-way so don't bother clearing myself of negative energies afterward. I was taught to brush it away wiht my hands afterwards & visualise it going into the violet flames. I feel silly brushing off the negative energies & just not that into that part. I thought maybe if I imagined an angels wings brushing away the negative energies & that would be alright. Is there a right way & a wrong way? Any tips for clearing negative energies after a treatment that others use & may want to sure would be very much appreciated. Does anyone else have the same issue with this part of reiki? Maybe it's jsut me & I shouldn't get too hung up as to whether I am doing it a right or wrong way! Thanks in advance for any replies got back, they will be much appreciated. Thank you. 🙂

I have come across several methods and have tried many:

1) Using sound - I've used a chime bar, ting shas or a singing bowl, you could even clap your hands
2) Using crystals - selenite or kyanite swept through the aura
3) Using essences - there are a number of essences for clearing, cleansing etc which you can spray around the body
4) Taking a shower - as you are washing under the shower imagine that it is also cleansing your energy field
5) Using a feather or feathers
6) Smudging - you can use a feather to fan the smudge smoke around the body

No right way, no wrong. It's a good thing to do as it also helps you 'switch off' as it were.

You'll find a way that feels natural & comfortable to you.

Blessings

Hi,
After Reiki I never brush energy away. Reiki for me isn't about removing energy it's about alchemy..changing what is into the best it can be. Therefore nothing negative to remove. And Reiki is pure love and light.

But that's just me..

Kind regards,
Christina

Saraju, if you're doing Reiki, you don't need to deal with "negative energy". Reiki is Reiki and is it's own protection.

By your mention of the Violet Flame, I wonder ... are you doing Seichem? Which isn't Reiki (or at least, it's Reiki, changed, with stuff added in, which means it isn't Reiki any more) ... and yes, the Violet Flame is useful before during and after Seichem.

I agree with the others. Brushing away negative energies is a Western add-on to Reiki as is Violet flames. Neither of these are traditional to Japanese Reiki techniques.

By focusing the Reiki energy itself during a treatment you are clearing the negativity away (if you want to look at it like that). Reiki isn't about taking the 'negative' energy out of somebody and just moving it into their aura, it's about balancing the energy system within the body. The 'negativity' could manifest out of that balancing in any of a myriad of ways, as heat, emotions, visual or physical sensations, sweated out or any of a number of other ways, so just let what needs to happen happen and don't get caught up in the western add-ons that get people waving their hands willy-nilly over people's body's (and trust me I've seen some right strange ways of doing it at some of the Reiki shares I've been to).

If you need to clear the energy body, then it needs to be done during the session, so you are replacing it as you go, not after you have made the energy adjustments.

Otherwise it would be like polishing a dirty car and then trying to wash the dirt off afterwards!

Hi Saraju, welcome to HP 🙂

Don't get hung up on mental stuff. Since energy follows thoughts, what you believe and the method that resonances with you is going to do the job. There is 1000's of way to do healing/energy work and what suits one practitioner may not suit other. Do what feels right to you with good intentions. One persons wow 'violet flame in the bucket' technique is someone elses mumbo jumbo.

One thing to add, one of the biggest complaints I've heard other healers mention about Reiki healers is they don't ground they client ie hold the feet at the end of the treatment. Not saying they are right or wrong, but in my own experience & view point, holding the feet at the end of the treatment is a useful technique as so many people are up in their heads.

When we are dealing with subtle energy, we are dealing with something that is highly subjective, so there will always be a wide spectrum of belief. Do what's right in your heart, and if brushing off negative energy doesn't float yer boat then do something else. You will always find plenty of suggestions on Hp 😉

Best Wishes

RP

Thank you guys for coming back with different techniques, it's been really helpful & I especially like the idea of using a feather or sing bowls, oh & not bothering with brushing the energy away at all sounds good to me. I had my reiki master attunement just recently & I kind of feel like I should know everything there is to know about reiki by now, but I don't of course. I really enjoy the reiki but I want to keep it as down to earth as possible, if that's possible! It's good to know that a lot of extras have been added on by westerners & that Dr. Mikao didn't bother with brushing away the energy, or cutting cords for that matter. Maybe as I treat more people then I may feel like this is something I want to do, but for the meantime I will keep it simple. Thanks again, guys you have all been very helpful & I appreciate your replies; Take care, all.

Hey Reiki Pixie, just read you're reply after posting my message, thanks for the advice, you have been very helpful. I been a member on HP & never every post questions or responses, I one of the nosey nebs who have a look & leave it at that. This could be a good way of passing the time in work now on in I think. Thanks again for the down to earth advice. So in future I will just do what tickles my fancy then and all with the best intentions of course.

All the best then & bye for now.

As for RP's advice re "grounding" by holding the feet (or just using that technique because people are in their heads), it's a technique to be cautious of in my experience. It's a technique we were taught to do with Sekhem, but often you find people have ticklish feet, so sometimes you can bring them around very quickly with a start at the end of a very relaxing treatment, which not everybody will appreciate. 😉

Hi Energylz, that a good point actually. I never thought about those that have ticklish feet, or even just can't abide having their feet touched. Any tips on grounding others that you have just given a reiki treatment too?

All your advice is really much appreciated by the way.

Simple, if someone has ticklish feet (if socked generally not a problem) you can hold the ankles or just below the knee caps. The oriental technique (and that includes Reiki) of holding the hand below the navel can be used as well. Problem solved!

In regard to Reiki, I think in terms of transforming negative energy. I don't think in terms of getting rid of negative energy, I visualize energy harmonizing/balancing and flowing.

I too have heard negative comments about not grounding people after a treatment.
If my client was feeling low before treatment I sweep up, while if the energy is too much in their head I sweep down and hold their feet or ankles.

If the client has found balance and does not need grounding or lifting I end the treatment with my hands on their shoulders. Another way to ground without touching the feet is to gently press down on their shoulders, it brings their attention back to the hear and now.
