Hi all does anyone here wear a tunic or anything when they are giving Reiki to the public, i am thinking about this, as i feel it looks a bit more professional than just wearing tee-shirt and trousers. And people seem to want this i feel, it gives them the impression you know what your doing.
Has anyone ever seen any with the Kanji symbol on ?
RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Good morning Angel Light.
I agree it doesn't look 'professional' to wear t shirts etc when giving Reiki to the public but I think white tunics too clinical for what we do. Our Reiki share group have 'adopted' a company that sells silk blouses/shirts/trousers/tunics at the Mind/Body/Soul exhibitions. They are very helpful and stock lots of different sizes. The group decided to wear white or black trousers with one of the silk tops, mainly because they are loose fitting and very cool to wear when working. I have lost count how many times clients and students have commented on how beautiful these tops are and the colours are wonderful. They can also be washed in the washing machine(for those of us who hate hand-washing!). I will be more than happy to pm you the companie's name (and I promise I'm not working on commision!),

RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Hi Angel Light,
If you are giving Reiki treatments professionally it does look better if you have some form of uniform. Something like a white shirt and blue or black trousers. However Reiki does not seem to demand a formal therapist's top - as you would wear for giving Reflexology or Aromatherapy.
There are several companies/organisations which supply clothes with the Reiki Kanji upon them. ReikiAngel has suggested one of them. I do know also that the UK Reiki Federation supply Tee shirts, polo tops, etc with the Reiki Symbol on them but I thinbk they only supply to their members.
Best of luck in your search.
RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Hi Reiki Angel,
Those clothes sound lovely. Could you give the company name.
I don't think that is breaking any forum rules.... (its not you that you're 'promoting') :).
Many thanks
Saffron

My pleasure (if not breaking any rules!)
They have a sale on at the moment in the 'Bargain Basement', worth a look!

RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Try some of the workwear companies who will do embroidery/pictures on garments.
A quick Google search revealed a company doing a special offer of a polo shirt with 6000 stitches of embroidery for £6.99 each and cheaper for big quantities. (its one of the 'sponsored links' on the right hand side of the screen. Will pm if you can't see it.)
I know pinksaalu and their clothes are very, very beautiful, but more 'going out' quality for me; I would live in dread of getting anything on them ( I use reiki alongside other therapies as well as a stand alone).
You could also get a therapist tunic in a nice colour, (there are lilacs, etc, now) and get your local embroidery place to badge it up for you.
If you have a local education centre with an embroidery class, a student might make it up for you as a test project.
Hope this helps.
RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Namaste, Angel Light!
I, too, have considered some type of uniform for doing reiki. I toyed with the idea of a karate Gi as they are all cotton and breathe but after much consideration thought it too funny
Here in the U.S. I can take a photo of the Reiki Kanji and go to any uniform print and embroidery shop and have a large choice of products to choose from. Can you make your own design on the computer and do the same? Here it is not too expensive and you can also make a deal with the printer if they have discontinued shirts.
Much luck!

RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Hi,
I did consider wearing a uniform of some kind a while ago, but quickly decided against it. I find that clients respond better when they see that I am wearing normal clothes, as any look of a uniform can be intimidating to some people.....after all, we never know what issues a client may have with uniforms.
I also like the idea that my own clothes speak of me and give the client a clue to who I am....helps with communication. A uniform can act as a barrier between client and healer. Wearing your own clothes creates a warmth. It also helps with those clients who have issues with their own appearance - to see someone in their own clothes and comfortable in them.
And finally I decided against a uniform as it said to me, that when I wasn't wearing it, then I wasn't healing. Reiki healer is what I am, not what I do. Doesn't matter what I'm wearing or when.
Professionalism comes across in our behaviour and our work. So long as we are not dressed badly, I really think we don't need a uniform.
Love and light,
Christina
RE: Uniforms for Reiki
Hi guys
I have just bought a pattern that has a shirt/jacket which has a mandarin collar, and is very easy to make. I figured I would iron on a reiki han transfer on the left hand side just a small one, and make it in satin, which is always a beautiful fabric to wear, and cool. There is also elasticated pants that come in the same pattern, which I'll make in the same material.
The pattern is "Easy Stitch and Save by McCalls #M4566.
Good luck to all you sew'ers..

RE: Uniforms for Reiki
I have a set of clothes I use mainly for doing therapy work (Reiki or Shiatsu): loose and comfortable for me, but but still giving a better look that "sunday at the gym".
Christina, I agree with you that giving healing has nothing to do with what we wear. However when I am with a cleint, I think that not wearing the same clothes I just had when doing my shopping keeps things a bit more separated: I am now totally focused on being with my client, nothing else in the world counts.
No uniorrm for me because I think it does make it too clinical, puts to much distance...
