Was talking to someone yesterday, and she said "of course you'd need the therapist uniform if you're going to practise Reiki professionally"

Which set me thinking - what do you wear when you do Reiki?

Is it different if you also offer other therapies, or when you are doing Reiki on it's own?

RE: Uniform for Reiki?

I think it is a matter of choice and depends where you practice.
A centre I was involved with for a short time wanted all therapists to wear the same style uniform...another centre was more relaxed.

I have a white top and trousers I like to wear when I do reiki, and when I do shamanic healing I often wear a tiger print top and leopard print leggins as a kind of shamanic costume

RE: Uniform for Reiki?

Personally, I don't wear a uniform to practice Reiki. I feel that smart clothing that doesn't restrict movement is more than sufficient. There are no regulations that dictate otherwise. I believe that a professional image can be created and maintained without the need for a uniform.

I imagine that if a therapist is offering other therapies such as beauty therapy, then a uniform would be more appropriate.

I myself offer hypnotherapy, crystal healing, Indian head massage and Reiki.

Most of my therapy friends who offer similar treatments also do not wear a uniform. I know of one therapist who wears a personalised polo shirt, with her business name embroidered across it.

However, it is a personal choice and should be made by the individual alone and as to how comfortable they feel with/without a uniform.

I wear a t-shirt which ties into my business colours and has my logo printed across the front and back for all my therapies.

People have commented how smart it looks and also that it's instantly recognisable that I am the therapist they have booked as my logo's there for all to see. You can see it here [link= http://www.littleoaktherapies.co.uk/kerryatwork.htm ]http://www.littleoaktherapies.co.uk/kerryatwork.htm[/link]

I have a top which is chinese style from Pink Saalu which I also have for reiki treatments which I wear with a pair of normal brown worktrousers

Above all else, you need to feel comfortable.

LOL. What tosh.
Most people I know who practice reiki professionally do so in comfortable clothing, after all we like to provide a comfortable environment for our clients to have their treatment in and, IMHO, wearing whites (or other uniform) can appear in some cases to be a bit too clinical. My own Reiki Master only wears her whites when she is doing Reflexology or Massage, but not for Reiki.

Of course, it is up to the individual. 😉

Whats this Giles, are you saying you have not got the obligatory wizards robes, pointy hat and a big staff with a gigantic crystal in the top which lights up every time you practice energy healing, I don't know what the world is coming to these days LOL 😀

Smart but comfortable clothing does the trick for me: smart office black trousers with a simple coloured top is my usual. I tend to wear only cotton or natural fibres, but that's for my own comfort.

RE: Uniform for Reiki?

I got thrown out of my therapy centre today after taking the advice from this thread.:(

I said that it would raise the spirits of my clients but they were having none of it.

Anyway, here I am:

😀

If you look carefully, you can tell how annoyed they were at my clothing - they appear to have shoved something up my bottom. [:@]
Seriously though, I like to wear loose black trousers and a white polo shirt whether I'm doing Reiki, chi kung or teaching tai chi. For EFT, I might wear smart black trousers and a white polo shirt as it feels like more of a consulting role. I try to think about how my clients would expect me to dress.

Everyone know a wizards staff has a knob on the end. 😀

Hi all, What about us poor blokes! Have you any idea how daft we'd look in a tunic or mandarin style top? Only Steven Segal gets away with that one i think?

If its any help i did buy a black polo style top from the dreaded ebay [&:]last year. It has a choice of 2 'reiki' logos and can also be personalisedplus itcomes in a choice of colours / sizes. Iam sure they would still be available as the seller had a shop. The sellers ID escapes me but its smart enough and comfortable and still gets across that you're a therapist to help reasure clients. I find this works well for me.

I'm another one for comfort over 'uniform' when conducting Reiki sessions. I also like to wear tops from Pink Saluu as they are loose and made of silk so keep you cool while looking smart. I wear them with plain black trousers.

Love and light

Thanks for the pinksalu link - I've just ordered a very nice top to wear with my comfy black linen trousers so I might start wearing a "uniform" 😀

I wear jeans / pants / skirt and a top, just what i would wear on a day to day basis. Most of the uniforms ive seen for this type of thig are made from horrid synthetic materials that dont do anyones energy any good [&:]

For paying clients I wear a white shirt and blue trousers. For those who don't pay - friends and other therapists (on a swap) I just wear comfortable every-day clothes.

It really IS up to you to decide what the client is likely to expecta professional practitioner to wear when giving them a treatment.

RE: Uniform for Reiki?

well my top from pinksalu is lovely andethically traded
I have decided Iwill wear it for treatments as it is so nice
whatI really dislike is going for any sort of complementarytreatment and the therapist is wearing a uniform that looks like something in the medical profession would wear.I don't know why that bugs me ..., maybe its becauseI think they feel they need to look "medical" to be credible..... I shouldn't judgeI know but it just bugs me
