Had lovely Reiki 1 attuning at the weekend which albeit leaving me absolutely shattered also seemed to leave me open to horrible dreams and very fitful sleep that night.
Also of note is that whilst having attunements done I noticed the very hot sensation in the bottom half of my palms but when self-healing at later stages have not noticed this?
Any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated!
(And I have got a darn cough, sore throat and runny nose since.. hmph!!!!... seriously though.. do think it is an amazing thing to be able to do... just wondering why I am having a slightly odd reaction to it... )..

Your reaction to the attunement doesn't seem odd to me at all. Think of the attunement as a huge healing session. You're just having a bit of a healing crisis..... lots of self healing for you.
The feeling in your hands will come with time. It's not unusual for people to have sensations during the course and for them to lessen when you leave. You're ability is still there and with lots of practice you'll learn to trust the energy and the sensations will return.

Some people have a "healing crisis" ... otherwise known as the "21 day detox" ... and some don't.
Did your Reiki Master give you any advice that this might happen, and what to do about it?
Best thing is to keep on with the self-healing, and to take it easy, take good care of yourself in all ways, and drink lots of plain water to help with the detox process. It will pass

I don't think it's anything to worry about. After my Reiki one attunement, i had really bad nightmares (must have been some form of release i think). I also found that i was lucid dreaming where i was able to control the dream and defeat the 'monsters'. This is only the second time i'veever hadthat so i think it was just a strange reaction to the attunement. Also, after my first Reiki treatment, i developed a sore throat and cold symptoms which, as holistic said, could have been a 'healing crisis'.

Dear Calm congratulations on your Reiki 1 and welcome to the Reiki family.
Everyone reacts differently to attunements and whatever you feel is right for you so - Just for Today do not worry.
I developed a raging cold and sore throat within minutes of being attuned but with self healing it wasn't too bad.

First of all congratulations!!!
I agree withall the comments above, after being attuned we allhave got different experiences. I went through a mood swing from being "extra" happy to suddenly being absolutely horrible.
Try not toworry aboutit and enjoy your new life with Reiki!!!

hi calm this is "normal" in the reiki family do not worry it will work out and do lots of self healing yes we do need lots you would be surprised and enjoy these first few months of reiki

Im surprised that everyone but me seemingly went straight for the attunement without getting any reiki treatments before. My reiki master told me that to stop the body from getting sick its best to have a few prep sessions or treatments so your body can get used to the energy, and then get an attunement. Thats what I did for level one and two and i was not sick at all. I had minor sniffles from level one and that was it. I recommend getting treatments prior to the attunement but thats just me...

when i teach i gove the stuudent a healing session during the day and they give me one also, rarely do i have a student who has a healing crisis perse.

Thank you all... it seems strange.. yesterday started coughing for no reason at all and felt like I was coming down with something. Today feel fine.
Another unpleasant night last night.. lots of wierd (not scary per se) dreams.. tossing and turning with the feeling of unease.. heart suddenly started thumping for some reason - not helped by daugther's sleeping problems..
Have done some self healing but am so tired that I am scared of starting it, falling asleep and leaving myself ungrounded, especially as prone to nightmares at the moment.. I have a tendency to leaving my third eye open and feeling pyschically vulnerable.
I did have a couple of healing sessions prior to attunement and yes my reiki master did tell us about 21 days cleansing and having a reaction to attunement. I have also spoken to her since and she too has assured me that this is part of the cleansing process. I am due to have second lot of attunements for Reiki 1 this sunday.. so will be good for us all to swap feedback then.
Guess because I feltso good post-reiki treatments it just feels oddtobe havingwhat feels like a negative reaction (but obviously is a positive reaction) now.
Chantedmy five principles this morning though and that felt good!!!

Don't worry, is all normal. I also had really weird dreams for a while after my RI attunement, I used to wake up being really scared and stressed and I didn't know why. I think is part of your body adjusting to Reiki.
