in most respectful cultures in the event of a founder being deseased one would approach the existing kin for their blessing to use their family name..

Well that would be a bit difficult wouldn't it when the family fell out with Dr Usui long before his passing due to his beliefs and change in religious allegience.

Cor I can remember the impact on my trade union family when I got the vote and voted Tory, my mother called me a traitor to the family and I think it was a similar situ for Dr Usui, it seems the family did not even get involved in his grave. They did not approve of his work with Reiki either....so don't think that is really relevant in this context. His family owned business and he did not go into the family business.....he chose his own path and followed his own heart.

Those on these forums have proven that many of Dr Usui's followers have experienced something similar.

dos'nt matter......if permission/blessing is not given then the right to use a family name is not given so no legal right[or moral right IMO] to use it....so you have to change the name..and i believe that would stand in a court of law, surprised it has'nt made it that far by now tho did hear chinese whispers to this very effect some time back.....
i know id be p****d if someone was using my family name under the umbrella of all kinds of non-sense and half truth...and then someone completly un-related trys to copyright said name.....struth !.....purity much needed within reiki.....aint that the truth.

Hi everyone

What a heated discussion this has been and very interesting, too. I have never heard of Templar Reiki before, and do feel that with the current coverage of the Da Vinci Code many people will want to cashin on that, even though it has been pointed out that there is no connection between Templar Reiki and the Templars. I am though slightly confused by seemingly increasing amount of Reiki forms - basically I can't keep up.:)

My Dad is a member of the Rosicruceans, and do correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they had something to do with the Templars. From the practices he described to me, being very vague indeed, there are no leylines involved and nothing that relates remotely to any distant Reiki practices. Apparently there is a lot of singing going on though;).

Count me in for any Harry Potter Reiki!

Just for the record my own RM's research brought to light that Arthur Robertson introduced the chakra system, into Reiki.

1 year late but just found it. Thought you might like my research.

In 1922,usui went on a 21-day retreat of meditation, prayers, chanting and fasting at Mount Kurama in Kyoto, Japan. While standing under a waterfall, he did a meditation designed to open and purify the Crown Chakra. This caused him to have a spiritual awakening on the final day of his retreat. A powerful light entered the top of his head. His awareness was expanded and he realized a great power had entered him. He intuitively knew he could now heal others without depleting his own energy, as he had when he practiced Kiko.
