I know this is going to sound ridiculous (I know I should know the answer) but what should I be visualising during a healing session?
When I am performing Reiki, if I can't feel a difference in an area of the body should I still ask for negativity to be taken away (and how will I know its lifted if I can't feel it?)
Also when I ask for negativity to be taken away should I be visualising that it is lifting? Should I visualise (imagine) that the Chakra has been cleansed?
AND... what happens if I can't sense where there is a blockage? Will it eventually become so?
I'm not doubting Reiki, just myself and my own abilities and I hope it won't get in the way because I know the good that Reiki does in the world.
Sincere apologies for my naive questions. x
Hi Donna
And RELAX lol. Take a deep breath and remember "just for today I will not worry". All you have to remember is that it is not YOU that's doing the healing but the energy flowing through you. You need to 'step aside' and be an open channel. The hardest thing to understand is to detach from the outcome. Only Reiki and the receiver's Higher Self knows what is needed and as long as you can chanel the energy that's all that is required of you. This doesn't mean that you have no input because you can set your intention for the Reiki to work on whatever level is needed. Some very experienced healers never feel the energy themselves but that's ok, it's what the receiver is feeling that is the important thing lol. Your questions are by no means naieve and we have all asked them at some time or another so you are not alone.
Practice on yourself daily which will help you to trust the energy and remember the Reiki Principles of "Just for today..."
Good luck

Hiya
I agree with Reikiangel: it's sometimes the hardest lesson to learn at Reiki 1, that all we have to do is just stand there and "be Reiki"! I sometimes use a Native American prayer which goes something like "I pray to be a hollow bone through which the healing may flow". Carry on with the self-healing and you'll be fine.
Using Reiki in a passive way, acting as a 'straw' or a 'hollow bone' is one way of working with Reiki energy. This is a more Western concept of Reiki practice. There is another way of working with Reiki, in which the practitioner is active in the healing process, which is more in the traditional Japanese way of practising Reiki. Like all traditional Japanese arts, the practitioner is required to concentrate and be focused. In this method of working the practitioner intuitively channels energy at the frequency needed by the condition being treated using the shirushi and their kotodama and jumon, and stays focused on this energy flowing into them and out of them into the client. By staying focused on the energy flowing from an external source the practitioner ensures they are never using their own Ki (energy). Visualising the condition improving during the healing has been demonstrated to give additional healing effects and is a powerful tool we can use to help clients improve and recover from their illness or injury.

I LOVE the hollow bone analogy!!

Not silly questions because they are bugging you. But it's going to feel different for different people - there is no right and wrong. in my view, you have to take the time to listen to your own body as you self-heal. That will teach you what things feel like for you, then you can apply them to others.
