When we send Reiki to help Mother Earth, do we place our hands on ourselves and then link through our minds to ask in prayer as i have been doing or should i hold my hands out away from me towards the Universe.

However you feel the most comfortable.
It is your intent which is the most important aspect of this, Hawkwind.
Just relax and let the energy flow as your intent directs.
I know of one method where the Symbols are drawn in front of the practitioner, who then walks into them and, so 'charged', then walks slowly and consciously with the intent that Reiki enters the Earth as each foot treads on the ground - rather like a walking meditation.

Hi everyone,
When my youngest daughter was 9 (a year after she did her children's Reiki 1) our morning ritual would be that I would go into her room to wake her in the morning and we would send Reiki to the planet. We would visualize Earth out in space and then hold our hands out and 'send'. In my mind she was always slightly above me and the energy she sent was golden and bathed Earth. Mine was white and overlaid hers. Earth looked so beautiful with all the blue of the seas, green of the land and white of the clouds.
As my daughter has got older (now 14) she no longer does this as she hates being woken any earlier than she has to (typical teenager!) so we don't do this together anymore. Still, there's always another time and I do it myself now and again.
