Not sure if this has been discussed before, but does anyone else get asked the following & if so how do you respond?
Very often after I have completed a Reiki treatment I get asked did you "see" or "sense" anything.
I know there are people who are sensitive/psychic/ highly intuitive (however you wish to describe it) who may get visions or messages or whatever when they are treating someone - sadly I am not one of those people, so when I get asked if I "saw"/sensed anything I don't know what to say. I usually tell them that from my perspective I am a conduit for the Reiki and it is not my place to diagnose. When I am treating a person I do get tingling sensations in my face which I use to guide me and I can feel hot/cold areas when moving my hands over a person's body, but I don't attempt to analyse it as such.
I'm not sure what people expect me to say. Any views would be much appreciated.
Blessings

Hi Helen
I know exactly what you mean - it often happens to me too!
I also am not a psychic or someone who gets "messages" either and I think your approach to say that we, as Reiki practitioners do not diagnose and also to not try to analyse any sensations you do happen to feel is similar to mine! 🙂
Sometimes, it depends on who the client is. For example, if it is a Reiki friend, I may mention areas where I felt something different because I know the person will not jump to a worse case scenario and will accept it for what it is - an indication that energy was needed in that area, for whateever reason. Most of the time, however, the most I will say is "Well, it certainly felt as though you needed that!"

Hi Helen
As you gain experience you will begin to understand more of what you are feeling. To begin with it can be useful to recognise the areas of the body which feel different to the rest.
So when you are working you say you are already noticing areas which are hotter or cooler than others. So what I suggest is when the client asks about what did you sense is to kind of turn it around. You could say to the client - you may have noticed yourself that some areas of your body were hotter or cooler than others when I was working. What I find when I work is often that when there is an area that is hotter than others that that part of the body is needing some healing. If the area feels cooler then it can be that there is a little bit of a blockage where the energy is not flowing in.
If you feel you can discuss with the client what they experienced it will also help you to gain confidence in what you are experiencing.
Just know that the healing will be happening and that the more you practice the more that you will be able to pick and sense things.

Thank you so much for your responses & advice. I shall certainly start to feel more comfortable dealing with these sorts of questions in future.
I agree with you, it is certainly not our place to diagnose. My Reiki Master is one of those who experiences nothing except the Reiki flow during a treatment: however, I get the full works with guides giving me messages, feeling the client's pain, seeing old injuries, seeing psychic injuries, past lives... wow! TMI!
I make a note of what areas gave rise to the information and, when the session is finished, I tell the client that they seemed to need the Reiki more in whatever area it was. Mostly they will tell me what the problem was, which confirms the other information I've had (and which I keep to myself!).
If you don't feel or sense anything don't worry, you don't need to. Just trust that the Reiki will go where it is needed most.
Thank you Chris. Your Reiki sessions must be quite something! I sometimes wonder if people book a Reiki session because they hope that some sort of 'divination' is going to be performed using their body/energy field!
Well they are something for me! Sometimes the client tells me they don't feel anything - but then a few days later I get an email saying things are happening...
And yes I do get clients who specifically want some form of divination during the session, but I'm still wary of what I can tell them. (I have a friend who is part of my star family and we undertake the most amazing journies together during our Reiki sessions. We both see the same things. I've never heard of this before.)
However, I do have to say that sometimes I'm standing there, my mind's drifting off into what to do for tea... and those are the sessions during which the client has the amazing experience not me. Personally I'd rather the client have the experience, not me!
Hi
More import is for you to ask them, "What are you feeling?"
Many people seem to trust what everyone else feels, rather than what they
feel.
When they ask this question it is an excellent opportunity to trust their own intuition.

It's strange you say that Chris because I find a similar thing, when I give a reiki session and I really feel nothing is happening then the client feels loads of stuff!
