I appreciate that this has probably been posted before.but I cannot find an post.Gave a Reiki treatment today and was well grounded and visually protected.I usually have loads of energy after giving a treatment but today was different.During the treatmnet I got so cold, but it was like a breeze flowing,I even asked the client if she was cold and she said no,I even checked the windows. Then after she had left I almost collapsed with tiredness and cold.I had to go to bed,I am now still no better,I even gave myself a treatment, not much difference. While in bed I had every symptom the client had, shoulder pain, neck pain, low energy. This person is a friend and I may phone to see how she is,but do not want to worry her,she would feel it was her fault.

If we try and heal when we are depleted then there is a good possibility that we will actually draw energy from the healee into ourselves, hence the cold. Now considering what the healees energy would be like in this type of situation then it will not be surprising if we actually end up emulating them.

I would suggest you do some energy balancing work on yourself and then charge up your aura.

"visually protected"?
Never heard of that one!

Someone on these pages once gave the advice to thank the symptoms for what they have taught you, and then ask the Reiki to take them and change them to positive.

Or you could just have gone down with one of the rotten colds that are going around at the moment!

Star99, I can assure you I don't know what "visually protected" means!

I have never been taught how to protect or ground myself, as I was taught that Reiki is its own protection and will ground itself naturally. Now I'm not sure about that. I agree with not needing protection when using Reiki and indeed that is my experience: it is because it is the gift of a Buddha who is pledged to only do good for humankind. The grounding, however, is slightly different, and I do visualise the Reiki running down into Mother Earth, and I ask using SHK that any negativity is transformed into gold, light, love or whatever comes to mind at that moment.

I've only twice picked up a physical symptom from a client, and I have followed the procedure I gave in my last posting both times and the symptoms have gone.

This thing about protection is why I choose to use Reiki over spiritual healing, by the way: I always feel more exposed when I don't use Reiki. That's just me.

I agree with Chris regarding Reiki giving it's own protection. When i was taught and we asked our teachers about protection, if it was necessary, we were told that Reiki gives it's own protection, and that observing and living by the reiki principles each day also gives us protection. I only use grounding techniques when I feel I really need to, which does not seem to happen too often.

So much about the subject of `protection` Personally I believe that the more you are closer and embrace your God self the less there is a need for protection.

Ok Moving on
Does your client go to a spiriual church or involved in `spiritual healing?` and did your hands/back go cold

Much love
Jill

star99, I'm assuming 'visually protected' means that you visualise yourself as being protected, but why don't you just tell us what you mean? 😉 🙂

It is a simple question, asked by ChrisRams. Why not the courtesy of a straightforward reply, instead of playing guessing games here?

When we are being aligned then a new guide can come in, initiationg us to a new way of being or awareness, Its not uncommon to go through a clearing and a release when this occurs.

However if you felt nauseus or got headaches, felt disorientated when this happened, then this is where the red flags come up. For me personally

Much Love

Dunno - do you wear glasses? I do, and so does my Reiki master, and he advised me to rinse my specs under running water every morning to wash away the bad vibes. If that's not it then, honestly, I have no further ideas!

This thread is so painful to read!

Volatility should have no place on a forum where you cannot see gestures, read features and are likely to be offended by replies; patience is not always in abundance either, when people are defensive or cryptic.
We are all adults, and should accept that everyone has their view on the world, and has their right to express it, however much its delivery hurts.
All we need is a bit of love for our fellow-HPers, and all will be well (or at least for a little bit!!) 🙂

Love love x

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to post on this thread I think I've come in to the middle of something, and I'm not sure I'm around often enough to say it but I agree with everything gorseflower just said.

I am really interested in the issue originally raised by Star99, it has been coming up in my mind lately as well.

I do find when it comes to reiki there can be some strong opinions of the right way or no way, so may I just say this is my own personal experience, and my own opinion. 🙂

I too was taught and believe that reiki has its own intrinsic protection, but as people we are also interacting with all energy all the time.

As well as being a reiki master I'm an empathic sensitive, and even with reiki's inbuilt protection, I still have to do some kind of energy protection when interacting with people and that also includes when giving and receiving any kind of healing including reiki.

When I finish giving a treatment, I will make sure to close the session. By grounding the client, grounding myself, and visualizing our energy fields as entirely separated and self contained. A method I was taught, by another reiki master, is to visualize a figure of 8 as representing the connection between 2 energy fields, and when the session is complete to cut across the middle so the fields are separated. it's a two way thing really. Any interaction with another can result in transfer of energy, it's not all bad of course.:)

It taps into a broader 'debate' about us as energetic beings, i personally believe, based on my own inner knowing and experiential learning, that I have an energy field/ aura, energy pathways and energy centres/ chakra. I've also studied the ancient traditions and practices japanese, chinese, indian as well as new age theory. And it remains for me that my own inner truth is we are energetic beings, and that energy interacts constantly with people and the environment. Why would that be different in reiki?

It is not entirely true that reiki does not have its own closing 'rituals' for want of a better word. The spinal stroke and aura stroke at the end help to finish the session, ground the energy and brush off the aura. Some people teach or are taught to wash their hands and give clients water, these are all ways of closing the connection between client and practitioner in my mind.

I don't see how doing some energy protection, or closing at the end of a session or knowing how to energetically cleanse is incompatible with reiki and it doesn't affect the energy you are being a channel for.
Nor do I see it as a rejection or reflection of the other person's energy, just an inevitable, for me, factor that I pick up other people's energy very easily, without trying.:)

For me, doing other kinds of conscious energy balancing, including clearing and protection, is only a positive thing, it's part of raising and holding my vibration, which I feel is part of being a healer too in all that you bring to the world, with love.

Sometimes it is possible to remain in that space of love and light, and any heavy energy coming into that will just be transmuted. and it may seem a little defensive to use energy protection, but Star99 isn't the first or last person to experience some kind of energy exchange beyond reiki during a reiki treatment?

I feel even with a system like reiki it is still about knowing what is right for you, not coming at it from a theoretical point of view from the mind, or how other people experience it. Isn't this the mastery? the knowing comes from within, in a deeper space.

Star99 trust what you feel you experienced. This is your intuition and you do not need anyone else to tell you whether its right, wrong or what it is, that same intuition will guide you into how to shift this. Maybe you could explore it further noticing any sensations and where they seem to come from, going into them with openness and loving acceptance rather than resisting or pushing away, as is often our natural urge to do when we experience discomfort. Sometimes this unconditional love from the inside shifts and transforms and its all thats needed. Doesn't need to be some heavy big process, just light and loving and open. 🙂

Or/and you could do some energy and aura cleansing...I always do at the end of a treatment, and also is part of my daily practices. I know what you mean about protection, maybe you might want to think about how you're doing that as well, maybe try a different method if it's not working for you?
I've got some exercises, but let me know if you want me to pm them, I can't post up links here. 🙂

With love, light and peace 🙂

I don’t know if this helps I don’t do reiki but I do a spiritual heeling thing can’t really explain it but any way

My hands can turn red like full of blood and get warm witch I know is giving energy
And if thay turn blue like if they where very cold and get a cool sensation witch I know is drawing energy and they get a very itchy sensation in the prams

But cold is drawing energy hot is giving for me
And found I mostly draw first then give I have know control over it, it just happens at times

I hope that helps any one
Other wise just forget it just a weird thing that happens to me at times
