[sm=wave.gif]Hello, I have been reading the threads about Reiki 1 attunement etc.. I have my first Reiki 1 class on Friday. Its something I have wanted to do for a long time, and it was a chain of events that lead me to do this class.
I am really looking forward to it, but some doubts have crept in. I have a friend who has recently completed Reiki 2 and she told me how fantastic it was, but she also told me about someone she knewwho did Reiki 1 and felt absolutely nothing and gave up with it...what if that happens to me???
Also, I have been so stressed of late about different things, and not been feeling that great about myself (boohoo thats enough of feeling sorry for myself) that I am scared I'll have so many 'blockages' it won't work.
Any reassurances would be soooooooooooo welcome.
xx

What if it does happen to you Neroligirl? What's the worse thing that can happen?
🙂
One thing I can tell you for sure is that the Reiki attunement always works. 100% -never fails. If you feel something or not it doesn't matter, you will have Reiki. These doubts and things are simply your "old" self trying to stop you from growing and changing. It's a little part of you that doesn't want you to grow. Say hello to this part of you. Re-assure it like you were talking to a worried child..smile to it and say "Everything will be fine."
And it will be.
The attunement will work despite any blockages you feel you may take with youas it works at a higher level than this part of you which is apprehensive. Besides who doesn'tfeel a bit concerned and apprehensiveabout big things like this? It's perfectly natural..yes..natural. It's ok. Accept everything exactly as it is during the attunement. You are not there to "perform" you are there to get what you already haveswitched on for you. Reiki is always a part of you. The attunement helps you become aware of it.
Enjoy and congratulations in your bravery.
Bless

Hi there Neroligirl
I started my level 1 Reiki on a live course5 weeks ago and I too was quite apprehensive as to whether I would 'feel' anything. This apprehension was reinforced by my pre-course manual with several sections offering me an insight into other people's wonderous experiences. It alsotook me a long time (eleven years) to finally commit (surrender?)to Usui's path. My empowerments (or attunements) were a lovely and, for the most part, peaceful experience but I haddecided that ifit wasn't all 'whistles and bells' then I would not fret (as indeed was the case compared to the experiences fromthreefellowstudents). Since that day I have faithfully followed Hatsurei, self-treatment and kept a daily journal.I am absolutely connected with the energy source that has always been there for me to access I just did not know how to (I am also writing up my PhD thesis in social science so always the healthy sceptic!).
If you have not come across Usui's Preceptsalready you will be introduced to them on your course as they are the foundation of the original Usui spiritual path for self-development and self-healing. The second precept is:
Just for today...
Do not worry
And with that I concur with the comments from Mr_Firstlight. For any student the first step is always the hardest, but once you take that leap of faith you will learn to trust in the wonders of the universe!
I know you will have a wonderful day.
And again... Enjoy!

I totally agree with all the above! I ask my students to come to the course with no pre conceptions of how it will feel and to have an open mind and the willingness and commitment to work with this wonderful energy!
At the end of the day it is not about what WE feel as such, but how the person RECEIVING the energy feels. I have known fantastic healers who feel absolutely nothing themselves but the feedback from the person receiving is what makes them continue!
On my coursesI have up to 4 people at a time and each one has an entirely different experience during their attunements.
One lady in particular felt disappointed because she hadn't felt what the others had but I asked her not to 'compare' and see how the energy would manifest itself for her. Later in the day I asked them a set of questions and they had to write the answers down. After about 10mins this lady had tears running down her face and when I asked if she was ok she rreplied that she had not been able to write for years because of problems with her hand. She could not believe she had written a whole A4 sized sheet of paper without her ususal problems. That to her was confirmation that Reiki was indeed running through her. Wonderful!
Enjoy your course, life will never be the same after.

RE: Reiki First Timer
Some people feel the Reiki - some don't. As a Reiki healer for some 15 years - some times I feel the energy at work - sometimes I don't - but I KNOW its working from watching the patioents breathing. If you feel that its the way for you - go for it and don't listen to negative thought from others. Thats their loss.
RE: Reiki First Timer
Hi Neroligirl 🙂
Dont stress hun! You will be just fine 😉
Reiki is a wonderful journey and your attunement is just the start. It would be unusual NOT to have doubts, I am sure everyone does - I know I did! One of the great things about Reiki is that it is a way of increasing your 'self' confidence as *faith* and *intent* is ALL you really need to give Reiki;) Easier said than done sometimes I know, but if you make Reiki a part of your life and practise regularly amazing things will happen! and when it does you will feel all YAY!! and your confidence will increase and you will do more and all of a sudden you will be bowling along, and this 'self' confidence and positivity will overlap into other areas of your life and all of a sudden you are on the most exciting journey ever LOL!!!
Yes, it has its ups and downs like any ride, but because you have cultivated your *faith* in your *self* even the downs become ups, and rather than problems they become a challenge that you know will lead you to something great in the end:D
So get ready, get excited, what a trip you are embarking on! Dont worry, dont have any expectations - all will be just as it should be for YOU! Reiki is universal but also very personal too - we all have unique experiences and feel Reiki in many different ways.
I am looking forwards to hearing about how Reiki feels for YOU!
Just sit back, relax and Enjoy

RE: Reiki First Timer
Hi,
I did my first Reiki degree about 6 years ago and i believe that Reiki finds you when the time is right to do it.
Everyone has differant expeiences after being attuned - so it will be your own experience. I could see colours in front of my eyes when they are closed - purples and reds. A girl i did it with felt nothing, but i started feeling really angry in the 21 days of self healing. We were told to keep a diary of how we felt - emotional and physical responses. We weren't told by our Master that we could bring up emotions like anger and when i told her about it she looked at me as if i was wierd. I now know that it is perfectly normal. A good Reiki Master will support you through the attunement and afterwards.
The same thing really applies when you are practicing on friends and family - everyone experiences healing differantly. My husband felt nothing and i started doubting that i was any good at it.
I think it is important to do the 21 days self healing afterwards - self healing is important and very relaxing. It is time for yourself, which some people feel guilty about because they think it is 'selfish'. When and if you choose do to so, start healing others you will see how important it is to take that time to self heal/
I hope it is a lovely experience for you.
love and light
