I know being attuned (I am to level 2) that reiki can develop you psychic ability. I have never considered my self psychic, but lately odd things keep happening. when I close my eyes I can see faces of peolpe I do not know and I get a real strong sense of their essence- what thy are like as a person, occasionaly this essence is quite overwhelming.
I also keep seeing flashing white lights and sometime I have been seeing a small spot of haze that doesnt seem to be in sync with its surroundings.
Some time when I see the people in my mind i feel a bit scared. So is this what developing a psychic ability feel like or do I need to seek medical help!!!!:confused:
If you are physically getting white flashes of lights in your eyes you should most definitely seek the advice of your GP/doctor to be sure that it's nothing serious.
When we are attuned to Reiki this helps us clear ourselves of the things that cloud our judgment or our physical and emotional wellbeing.
This is going to sound a bit 'deep' but if you consider that we are all One, we are all the true Self that is unchanging and ever observering (the One Consciousness if you like), then we are all connected to everything there is. What gives us our personalities is the emotions, judgments, learnt responses etc. that cover over our true Self. You can think of it as though out true Self is a lightbulb, always there, always shining, but throughout our lives it gathers dust and the light cannot always shine through as brightly, sometimes even becoming very dim that we consciously believe there is hardly any light there at all.
Being attuned to Reiki is bringing ourselves back in tune with the true One Consciousness; the true Self. Through the practice of Reiki and self-healing, we start to clear away the dust on the lightbulb (those things that cloud over us) and start to become more connected with the truth (the One Consciousness already knows everything and is connected with everything, as it is everything). As that dust clears, we start to get glimpses of the light shining through, the connection to other manifestations within the consciousness (other people, situations etc.). When we get those glimpses we can bring them forward to our conscious mind and recognise them, just so long as we hold back the judgment and emotions of previous attachment to such things. If we recognise them with purity then we can see the truth, and it is this that some would call true psychic ability, or being in touch with intuition. More often than not, the ego, the emotions and attachment to judgement based on previous experience comes in and clouds that intuition and we lose the truth of it. However, constant practice helps to strengthen this ability.
I'm sure there is nothing to be scared of. Being scared is just an emotion that is trying to prevent you from being in touch with the truth/your intuition. Choose to let that fear go.

While an increase in the incidence of contact with spirit, seeing orbs and sensitivity to energies having been attuned to Reiki are indeed common, it is quite possible that your symptoms are of physical origin, the lights and hazes could be an indicator of migraine for instance. :rolleyes:
If you are feeling scared by the images then take some quiet time to ask the angels and your Reiki guides to protect you, particulary Arch angel Micheal,to surround you, protect and guide you. Try some wearing Haematite for grounding and imagine roots extending from your feet into the ground if you feel a little spaced out.

I am very lucky to have never suffered migraine, and dont often get headaches or anything else.
I do speak to archangel Michael, I will ask for his help on this. If this is my developing ablilty how can I learn to use it properly?

I had something very similar happen when I did my Reiki levels and after a while I mentioned it to my RM who said that my healing abilities were excellent but it was now time to develop my spiritual/psychic abilities. In my naivitie I said I didn't think I HAD these abilities! He laughed and said that when the Universe gives you one gift and you use it then it offers more but the choice is yours. He suggested I join an Open Psychic Development Circle. I had no idea how to go about this but a month later I was attending a Small Business Start-Up course and a very scary man sitting on the other side from me approached me in the break and said that he was interested to see that I was a healer. He also said that his wife was a Medium and was starting a new beginner's course and was waiting for the last place to be filled and he thought it was me!!!! Synchronicity or what lol. Two weeks later I started at this Circle that was meant to be for 8 weeks and FOUR years later we continued until I moved away. I have never looked back, have thoroughly enjoyed my journey and have had some wonderful experiences and met some fantastic people. So, as long as you are sure your 'symptoms' are not physically based then open up to the Universe and see what happens! Let us know how you get on.

hmm, interesting! I've also been experiencing flashing lights in my eyes recently. Have had numerous check ups with gp's, opthalmologists etc and nothing seems to be a problem.
Wonder if anyone else has had this and can reply here.
I know that with the work I do as a lomilomi bodyworker - combination of energy chanelling (laulima which is Hawaiian form of reiki) and massage - my intuition and connection to source has got so much stronger recently and my feeling is that this is what this flashing light thing is all about.
Would be very interested to hear from others.

I've also been seeing colours, lights, flashes and sometimes at night what looks like snow for the last 18 months.
At first I thought it was my eyes but it's not so I guess I must just be seeing a bit more of what there is to see in this wonderful world, have you noticed that there are 'rainbows' just about everywhere also, usually around glass, mirrors and anything that reflects ?

You know those little tetra fish that are electric blue, well it's that blue colour that occasionally flashes when I have my eyes closed. I can't make out the shapes though.
I recently read about how to develop psychic awareness with the reiki symbols: draw the power sybmol and harmony symbol onto each hand ; hold one hand on forehead and the other behind your head at same level; intend reiki should flow into your third eye to awaken and enhance your intuitive ability; hold your hands in this position for a few minutes to allow reiki to flow.
Probably not traditional reiki, but I might give it a go.
Not forgetting also that the more aware psychically you become, the most it's important to be aware of psychic protection.

I also get the blue colour (like glossy blue nail polish) plus pink and yellow when I am giving or receiving Reiki.
Will also try to set aside a quiet moment to try the above exercise. Do you ground yourself with crystals or any other methods Sarah7?

Reiki and being attuned to reiki , cleares and transmutes blocks and discord, that are ready to be released as well as healed.
We are all psychic as we are all energy, simply our psychic centres become clearer. The best description would be that we are screens, the more we allow our selves to recieve and to give on an equal, the more we are `connected` this includes being psychic etc:D

Possibly spirits. Not necessarily spirit guides. There are many other spirits that you might see.
