I was treating a friend of mine last night who hadnt had a very good experience of Reiki previously. I talked her through it all and told her that no harm can be done with Reiki so we preceeded.

Almost immediately where-ever I placed my hands she got uncontrolable muscle spasms. She said it didnt hurt as such but it felt very uncomfortable and if she hadnt known me she would of been worried by it. I tried different hand positions and tried to 'turn the energy down' which helped a bit but they continued so we stopped.

Has anyone had any experience of this or have any ideas what it is?

Hi Doogle

No muscle twitches, but one client complained that when I put my hands in a place where she normally experienced pain then she got a very sharp pain for a few seconds. She said the pain was quite bad and had it not disappeared quickly she would have asked me to stop. I have experienced this when receiving a treatment as well.

muscle twitching and/or spasms can be attributed to energy releases surrounding that area you are working on. This is mainly due to tension, toxins around that area. This is quite a good response showing the body is changing its energy and giving off a good release. Keep your eye on it during subsequent treatments as it should get better/ disappear as the body readjusts its own energy balance.

Hi Doogle

Anything is possible with energy work, like Poppet I have had people experience pain on various levels of intensity when receiving a treatment and also trembling in various parts of the body as things are cleared, the most common seems to be the strong tingling people comment on at the end of the treatment which seems to last for quite a while after the treatment has finished.

It a bit like the old Thunderbirds program that used to be on TV "In the next 24 hours anything could happen" and it often does 🙂

Hi!

I'd agree that muscle twitches are energy being released. Suddenly all the contraction that was held in the muscle is being let out...
I had once a Reiki client who was shaking very strongly duirng the whole treatment. I made sure his body had the physical space to move. Afterwards the client said that he felt much better, having released a lot of energy.

I treated a lady once a few years ago now who had cancer, she had it quite bad. when i began healing her she was literally bouncing off the bed but in a deep trance and she didnt remember it. it was strange to watch but i always trust the energies and knew that this was what she needed at the time.

Reiki is a wonderful energy and it always works for the highest good and intention for the individual as with spiritual healing. often things happen which we cannot explain or understand.

I like the Thunderbirds comments....gee mr Tracey!!!

RE: Reiki causing muscle twitches

Hi

My partner experiances muscle twitches when I treat him and also the pain, often when I am not even meaning to channel the energy (usually when watching telly).

I have also felt these twitches but on a grander scale, when doing reiki 1 when it was my turn to relax and enjoy a treatment but I suffered really bad shakes and I was freezing, where ever she put her hands I was shivering and then after about 30 mins of this I started to convulce!!! not a very pleasant experiance but my reiki master says that it is a shift in energy - I have had a similar experiance recently but not as bad. I am sure I will have a nice relaxing treatment one day soon. ha ha!

RE: Reiki causing muscle twitches

I had a lady come to me three times in the past two weeks with lots of emotional problems and the first time she had terrible pain in between her shoulder blades and tingling in her arms. We actually had to stop and I massaged her back it was so bad. The second time it was less and today just a little bit. It happened after I had worked down her body and then came back up to her head to finish off the treatment.

A good Reiki friend tells me that this means she is 'reaching out for something/somebody' and it would fit. Anybody else have any thoughts on that?

Glad to say she responded very well and is emotionally much happier.:D:D:D

Hi, your phone was removed so I couldn't call you but I hope you read this message. Im not an expert on Reiki but I have had a couple of experiences with it and also because of some health issues have experienced a lot of things and learnt a lot about natural supplements.

Talking about the energy and twitching I once had a session of reiki and after this I had twitchings and other sensations around my body after a session and it was quite annoying but it got serious after I begun to have nightmares and sleep paralysis ( sleep paralysis is when you are dreaming and you realize you are dreaming but you can't wake up...its awful) so at the end went back to the reiki healer and he said I had been infested with some very negative energies through the reiki session and that I needed spiritual deliverance (he stooped doing reiki as well). I went to a Christian church after this, it took a while, they found out I had some heavy stuff attached to my energy but thanks God it went away as well as those ugly twitchings.

The other possibility (and I also have had this, plus I know people suffering from some conditions that cause dehydration and they get lots of twitching around the body) its due to lack of electrolites. Some conditions or sometimes just having bad diets, drinking too much water without minerals causes this imbalance in the body. Our body needs water but that water need to have minerals otherwise we will just expulse the electrolites from the food when drinking too much water. So maybe try to get a supplement online that has electrolites, also you could start using himalayan salt in your food instead of the common salt (the himalayan salt or also sea salt haven't been processed and still have the natural minerals our body needs).

I hope you get better and would like to hear back from you to know how are you doing. 🙂
