I am teaching my first Reiki 1 Attunements next week and thought I was really prepared.............but how do others plan the day out?

Think I'm just getting too worked up about the symbols, etc.

Some may say it's a little "unprofessional", but it doesn't hurt to have your attunement process down on paper and use this during the attunements. Be honest with your students and let them know that you have reference material just to make sure that you get it right.

Ellie, just keep your notes to hand! Have a running order mapped out (session plan) and be clear in your own mind what you want to do.

Whilst you are giving attunements the students are going to have their eyes shut so they won't know you're checking on the symbol order....

Having taught Reiki for several years, I believe the intent in most important in the attunements! Trust me, even the most experienced of teachers can go blank at times!!

Sending you Reiki! Just enjoy the experience of teaching - it's a wonderful gift.

I don't teach therapies but I do give a lot of public talks and demonstrations. In my previous career I also did a lot of training, public speaking and presentations. My tip is to use bullet points rather than full notes. I'm sure you know all the additional information if you lay out the bullet points correctly. This keeps the training structured and reminds you of the "next bit". Anything I struggle to remember (such as names and dates etc) I type or scrawl below the respective bullet point. That way, you are not constantly looking at notes but you are sure to stay on track, keep the information in the correct order etc. If I have to obviously look at my notes, I make a joke of it (always a damn date for me!) and say something like "I'm sorry but I am hopeless at remembering dates so let me consult my cheat notes". This helps break the ice, gives a bit of a laugh and stops people becoming focussed on the notes you are holding.

Teaching Reiki

I have been teaching Reiki for a couple of years now but still have my notes from the first class I ran, even though I no longer use them its good to have them with me whaen I teach.

I wrote down a running order for each session - just really what I wanted to cover. I also put the symbols onto a very small piece of paper which was close to me in the room where I do attunements in case I forgot them.

What I have learnt now though is that Reiki will guide me. Each course is different, the energy of each group is different and how I teach is different but I do always make sure I cover everything I need to cover.

I teach many courses but Reiki is the one where I really feel it is not me teaching but the energy teaching through me. Now I never worry about these courses, the attunements etc as I know I am guided 100% and you will be too.

Try and relax and enjoy teaching your first course. Your first group will always be special.

In love and light
