Hi i am doing my reiki 1,2, and 3 master online. I got my certificate for the first one and did my attunement lastnight. My teacher did it from a distance but I didn’t feel anything and woke up feeling the same. Is that normal? I also don’t feel like I have hot hands or feel the reiki is with me? I did have this dream though of me being afraid as I saw something coming after me and then felt like my body was floating and then felt someone on my 3rd eye but like i said it was a dream. I am a little upset that I didn’t have the experience I thought I would have. I wanted to feel healed and feel energized. But I don’t feel a difference. Will I feel changes through out the 21 day cleanse? Isnthe reiki with me or not?
Hi Stephanie,
Well, there's a lot of things to answer here.
Firstly, distance attunements are generally not considered the best way to learn Reiki. Reiki is a practice that is best learn during in-person lessons where you can practice and ask questions and learn along with others. You wouldn't learn to drive a car using an online site, so consider for yourself whether you think it's good to learn something like Reiki that way too.
Having said that, some people feel things during the attunement process, others don't. Some people feel heat or tingling or such sensations in their hands when giving Reiki, and others don't. There is no right and wrong, and not everyone experiences some magical thing, though often people have such expectations before the attunements and are left disappointed when they don't experience such things.
As for "feeling healed"... well for that you will need to practice Reiki and give yourself a treatment each day you feel you need it. It concerns me that your Reiki teacher did not cover this with you as part of your course, as well as the fact that you seem to have been told the common myth that there is a 21 days cleansing... that myth stems from the story of Usui sensei meditating for 21 days on Mt.Karuma when he received his enlightenment for Reiki. The fact is that self-healing should be a daily practice, not just something you do for 21 days; and on top of that, the time it takes you to "heal" yourself will depend on what issues you have, and what issues you are directing your healing at... it could take days, weeks, months or for some people years.
Is reiki with you? We cannot know for sure; that would depend on the credentials of your Reiki Teacher, who they learnt from, and what their lineage is. There are, unfortunately, people out there who "devise" their own thing and call it "Reiki" in one way or another, but it is only truly Reiki if the lineage originates back to Usui sensei. Such people are commonly seen on the web, offering distance attunements and courses, any quite often don't have the proper lineage or credentials and are just offering certificates and poor quality course material to make money. That's not to say your teacher is such a person, but we do have to be careful to check out the teachers beforehand to ensure they are genuine and do offer suitable support to those they teach (In your case, have you asked your teacher your questions? Do they offer such support?)
