My sister is 6 weeks pregnant, and she has asked for a reiki healing. would this be safe or should I wait until after the 3 month period.

Hi White Light,

Thanks for your very kind words.

The CWG books are excellent. I must re-read them.

RE: reiki and pregnancy

hi white light
congratulations on your pregnancy, reiki can do no harm whatsoever so you can relax in the thought that you will be supported and also your baby during your preganacy.

babies love reiki and as paul said give some to your bump.

reiki can do NO HARM WHATSOEVER.

to receive an attunement whilst pregnant is beautiful because we end up with a lovely reiki baby.

reiki will support both of you for your highest and greatest good and never ever will it do harm .

if a person worries about these things then do the following

send reiki to the higher self of mum and baby. if it needs it they will accpet. but please remember
reiki cannot harm

oh and another thing
reiki cannot harm

people harm but reiki does not

wishing you and baby a wonderful gifting

RE: reiki and pregnancy

Thanks Dez!

Did a reiki treatment today though and felt sooooo ill (thought I'd have to stop!) Went dizzy, thought I was going to throw up, body temp soared....not nice! Ended up sitting down for lots of it, beaming energy at client. She didn't mind as she didn't really notice (fast asleep!) but I have other clients who might take a different approach to this (i.e. what am I paying her for? Sitting down, directing her hands at me?!) Any thoughts...??!!

Hi White Light

There is nothing wrong with sitting and directing the energy from wherever, the energy will still do what you intend, after all we can treat someone at the other side of the world so you can do the same from one side of the room to the other 🙂

RE: reiki and pregnancy

My congratulations to you as well, White Light. 😀

My particular stance on Reiki and pregnancy has already been stated in previous posts on this forum. So you may already know where I'm coming from if you have read them.

My caution about passing an attunement on a pregnant woman carries over to channeling energy as well by those already attuned but now pregnant. I don't say this to scare anyone or to imply that Reiki is harmful in any way. I want to make sure that is clear.

However, the sensations that you have described while channeling Reiki energy worry me. There is nothing wrong with you sitting while channeling Reiki for a treatment on a client. Nothing at all. In fact, I keep a rolling chair (well greased so no squeaks) in my treatment room just so I can be comfortable during a long treatment. Nothing wrong with that at all. And if it alliviates the sensations you felt, then all the better.

But if the sensations you had while standing do not go away simply by sitting, then I strongly recommend that you do not do any more Reiki treatments on clients until you are either further along in this pregnancy or have delivered. Since you did not state what trimester you are in, I am not certain how long you would have to wait.

Remember that during a pregnancy, your physical body is not the only thing that is undergoing change, but your energies as well. Because of this, doing a Reiki treatment on a client at this time could be reacting in unexpected ways with your changing energies as well as with the energies of the baby. This may be what caused the unpleasant sensations you experienced.

I suggest, if your symptoms were relieved by sitting down during the remainder of the treatment, that you bring a chair that can be moved easily during a treatment with you next time. Otherwise, wait a bit and allow your energies to get used to being pregnant before you treat other clients.

Just my advice. Take it as you well.

Blessings.

if you do so already great

give your self a mini treatment before and after each client.

remember to set your intention otherwise the energy is here and it says
"im here what do you wish to achieve"

RE: reiki and pregnancy

Hi everyone

I've just come across this thread and read it with great interest, as I'm in the process of researching more information on Reiki and pregnancy for a magazine article.

And what a heated discussion this thread has been! So much, that I'm no longer certain whether to write an article about the benefits of Reiki which was initially based on my own personal experience but obviously I wanted to widen it out more and hear from others how they experienced Reiki.

I received Reiki treatments from 6 months pregnant (second pregnancy) onwards and was attuned to Reiki three weeks before birth. Both the treatment and the attunement were a wonderful experience and to a large extent I attribute Reiki for my total wellbeing during that time, an incredibly quick andeasy birth (unlike the first one which was a painful nightmare) and the fact that I didn't get postnatal depression (unlike my first pregnancy).

I shall do more searching on the discussion forums and elsewhere to see if anyone else had similar experiences and to see if the negative ones outweigh the positive ones.

Reiki in Early Pregnancy

Hello 🙂
I have experienced Reiki many times and I simply love it!! When my friend gives me a Reiki session there is such an intense heat coming through him and the energy feels great. Though I have read that for some women, if there is heat applied to the lower abdomen, it can prevent implantation and also cause miscarriage early in pregnancy. This is mostly for women who are super sensitive and may have already had difficulties conceiving prior. Personally, I have had Reiki during two pregnancies pretty much through conception and beyond and did not have any problems. In fact, it helped with the pregnancy symptoms. I was also attuned at the very beginning of a pregnancy (although I did not know at the time that I was pregnant). So, I guess it is more specific to each individual person giving and receiving the treatment. I hope that helps 🙂

Hi SillyMe and welcome to Healthypages,

I'm sure your experience will help others, though it's probably a little too late for the originator of this thread as, by now, the child will be around 8 years old. 😉

When I was first attuned I was looking for friends and family to practice on. One of my friends was pregnant. Now I am SO used to things being contra-indicated in pregnancy that despite it being clear in my manual pregnancy was not a contra-indication I decided to check with my master. She confirmed it wasn't a contraindication but advised me against doing it because she said the energy might feel funny at that stage I might not understand what I was feeling. She then said...'and if anything happened and she lost the baby she might blame you and the reiki' A few weeks later my friend lost the baby...............

Later my master said the reiki would have been fine - but some instinct made her warn me off. Essentially what she said was just an excuse to protect me.

I have since happily given reiki to pregnant ladies and I am sure I will give it to more pregnant ladies in the future

I was teaching a Reiki course and two of the students were midwives. They advised that it is during the first trimester that a miscarriage is most likely and if a woman does lose the baby they will look at anything they did which was 'unusual' to blame - Reiki (and any other therapy) can be seen as unusual and get the blame. Their advice is to not give Reiki during the first trimester.

My feeling is that Reiki is safe, but even so, I would be reluctant to give Reiki during the first trimester.

My friend was in the mid trimester - but I take your point. The thing is its possible the woman may not know she is pregnant during the first trimester (it happens) She certainly may not know she is pregnant during the first 6 weeks..... so i would bet quite a bit of reiki (like a quite a few drugs) has been given to pregnant women......

I have treated women for miscarriages with Reiki and continued treating them till the new pregnancy was safely established. They have since had their healthy babies.

I have also attuned pregnant women with no ill effects whatsoever.

I think it is important to remember that everyone is different and we may treat 1000 people with no adverse effect and the 1001 person has a reaction (whether due to the Reiki or not). I think we need to try and work with a combination of intuition and common sense with regards to all clients and do so without unfounded fears or concerns but we still I believe need to keep in mind advice from medical professionals.

Hmmm.. yes I agree Omega1. I think it depends however, on the client. Which is where common sense comes in; if she is adamant that she wants reiki and is wise to the possibility that she may miscarry simply because that is sometimes the nature of a pregnancy) and still wants reiki, then yes I would treat. However, if there is any possibility whatsoever that I think that the woman is at all anxious about her pregnancy then I would not treat. Having a miscarriage is a terribly painful (emotionally and sometimes physically) process and it is not uncommon for the mother to sit and wonder how and what she could have done differently and what may have caused it to happen. Had I received a treatment during my first miscarriage then I may too have been a woman who would have been grasping at explanations as to how it might have been caused. (However after a second miscarriage and three children, I wouldn't for one moment think that reiki/reflexology/climbing a mountain/riding a horse or drinking too much coffee had contributed to it).
