Reiki is something that cannot be limted in it's application, it may be used with success for all reasons and all people, it heals for the greater good.

However the effects may be variable, every individual will differ so one can never predict how each person will benefit.

However, it is commonly found that many people who have to take medication find that regular reiki will reduce unpleasant side effects of medicinal drugs while accentuating the positive effects.

I would suggest that it is certainly very worthwhile for your father to recieve reiki, it may provide healing on all levels, relaxation, and reduce side effects of the medicine.

Many people who are having to take medicinal drugs have found that their requirement for a drug is reduced...but this should only ever be decided by a DR.

Some people who take medicinal drugs on an ever increasing basis..ie pain relief is a good example have found that the reiki slows this process down..so the rate at which their need and use increases is lessened.

So, even where complete cures are unlikely and do not happen..reiki still has a great deal to offer in terms of increased quality of life.

Regarding medicine though..changes must never be made without the say so of a DR

I agree with Hal in all that he has said. I would also like to say I have an article by Mari Hall entitled "Treating Stroke and other Neurological Disorders" - I went to find it after reading your post as Parkinson's is a neurological disease. I think it's something to do with reduced levels of dopamine in the brain?
I don't know whether this "integration" technique which Mari demonstrates in the article would be anymore beneficial but I have used it on my Mom following stroke. Her website is

After treating with traditional Reiki positions, Mari uses the following position. The clients hands are crossed over the heart area and the ankles are crossed. Reiki is given around the head.
