Hiya Everyone
I have just started writing my own Reiki 1 manual and I am doing pretty okay with at the moment, but one thing that is bugging me and that is the History of Reiki. It is rather long and I was wondering if it would be okay to cheat a little on this part.
I was wondering if it would be okay to use someone elses work or is there any websites that allow you to use the history of Reiki in your own manuals. (But give them full recognition). I am a little wary on doing this because of the copyright laws etc. If anyone knows of such a website would you let me know.
Also does anyone know of a website that gives you the more updated version of the Reiki History, I would like to include both Histories in my manual.

Frank Arjava Petter is the man for researching into the history of reiki along with some other long established reiki masters.
One good book on the subject is "The Spirit of Reiki: The Complete Handbook of the Reiki System from Tradition to the Present" although that's now dating back to 2001 so there will obviously have been some more stuff found out since then.

I wrote my own version of the history for my leaflets so kept it quite condensed and that's what I put on my website (for the minute) until I get time to expand on it a little.
I don't think you need to put too much detail in for the Reiki I course as long as you cover the history in general so that the students have an idea where reiki originated from. If they wish to find out more after the course then they can either buy books or search on the web. You could always provide web links to useful information within your manual for the students to go and look at.
