Hi everyone,

I'm doing my Reiki 1 a week on Saturday, I'm really excited about it, I've had a few treatments over the years and very much looking forward to giving myself and my friends treatments. Anyways My questions are

*Do I need to do any preparation before the attunements?
*I'm starting a massage course in September can you combine reiki and massaging?
* If you've had your reiki 1 attunement, what happened on the day?
*Has reiki changed your life in anyway?

Lots of Qs for you.

Thanking you for answering :O)

Love light and laughter

RE: Reiki 1

I think everyone's experience of reiki is different and no 2 courses will be the same. Some Masters ask that you go through a 3 or 5 day detox prior to the course but my reiki Master doesnt as she said that she had experience of people turning up to be attuned and feeling ill because their bodies couldnt cope with detoxing. I would say, avoid alcohol for a few days before.
I also think everyones experience of attunement is also personal, I didnt see colours or have anything "magical" happen, I just felt very peaceful.
I dont do massage, just IHM but some people when they do massage, obviously the reiki might come through when giving the massage.
Reiki has changed my life to the extent that I cant imagine my life without it.

Hi Rachie,

*Do I need to do any preparation before the attunements?
Not really - some Masters advise to eat healthily, drink plenty of water, drink no alcohol etc for days leading up to the attunements. It isn't really necessary though as the attunement will work just as well. Avoiding alcohol a couple of days before as Crystaltherapy said is probably a good idea though.
*I'm starting a massage course in September can you combine reiki and massaging?

Yes you can.
* If you've had your reiki 1 attunement, what happened on the day?

Well, in my opinion, you don't want to find out too much about what people experience when they have their first attunements - if you don't know what to expect, your mind wont try to play tricks on you & you will know what you experience to be real. (i.e you won't think "I'm not seeing colours yet...oh is that one??" )
*Has reiki changed your life in anyway?
Crystaltherapy:

Reiki has changed my life to the extent that I cant imagine my life without it.

Dito!

Enjoy your course!

RE: Reiki 1

Hi Rachie,

I wasn't given any instructions before my reiki 1 or 2, but I would agree with crystaltherapy that if you felt inclined to prepare in some way, then avoiding alcohol is a good way forward.

I do combine massage with reiki. I believe that toa smallextent, I cannot avoid it, as the reiki energy shifts me to a higher vibration that, regardless of intention, will be passed through to the client. However, if I think the client is in need and open to it,I mightoffer thema small reiki session, which Igiveafter the massage.

My reiki 1 attunement was six years ago, over a weekend. I remember we did some outdoor energy work, listened to a lot of interesting theory and philosophy from the teacher, did some meditation exercises, shared a beautiful meal, practised giving and receiving reiki, took notes, got on well as a group, shared our experiences and what brought us to reiki.

People there who had done the course before and were sitting in, said thatreiki changed their lives. I guess for me, reiki has worked subtley. I think it's only now that I can look back and see how reiki has afffected the way Ive dealt with things, or influenced certain turn of events in my life. Having my energy raised to a higher vibration has meant that I have been more sensitive to and aware of other energies in people and environments. It has led me to a new career (I was teaching RE to 11-19 year olds, now Im self employed and working with my massage and reiki).

One could argue that these events may have taken place with or without reiki. I wouldsay to that, that reiki increased the likelihood ofme becoming more aware of whoI am, and whereI want to be in life, and although the journeyhas not been easy, reikihas broughtme here.Reiki does not let you avoid issues in your life! For that, I am truely grateful, and wouldn't be without it!
May you enjoy your joureny with reiki too!

much love, light and laughter:D
