Hi everyone
I recently came across this book on Amazon.
Reiki: The Ultimate Guide - Learn Sacred Symbols and Attunements plus Reiki Secrets You Should Know By Steve Murray
It sounds like it could be pretty interesting, especailly has I am due to got for the Master Attunement in September. Has anyone read or heard of this book?
I tried my local book shop and they can't get hold of it for at least a month another shop wants £20 upfront before they will ship it from the States. I think if it was a good book, I would get it from Amazon has it is a lot cheaper, but I would like to hear of peoples views on it it first.

Hi Angel,
No, not heard of it, but I can really recommend "The Reiki Sourcebook" by Frans & Bronwen Stiene. It is packed with lots of useful, balanced information and history about Reiki and looks at all the different schools of practice in existence. Published by O Books.
It would give you lots to use when you take your next step to Reiki Masters later in the year.:)

I have The Reiki Source Book, I am about half way through it, I bought it after Paul made a recommendation and I think it is great.
I went ahead and ordered the book by Steve Murray, (it arrived today, not bad considering it was less than 24 hours since I ordered it.) ON having a quick look through it, it looks pretty good, it is the same size has The Reiki Source Book and the same quality too.
Will let you know what I think of it once I start reading it.

Just wanted to let you know about this book. I am half way through it now and I have got to say it is one of the best books I have read.
I am hoping to have the Reiki Master Attunement in September, a few months ago I was asking around on the Reiki Forums if anyone had a master manual they could sell to me, so I knew what to expect. No one could help me. Well this book was exactly what I was looking for. It goes into step-by-step instructions on how to do the attunements at all levels. I would say this book is a must have for all (new) Reiki Masters and for all Reiki Practitioners that are looking to do their Master attunement.
It really is a godsend, I can't imagine any Manual from my Reiki master could match with this helpful guide.

Whilst I admire your eagerness to learn all about becoming a Reiki Master I DO feel you are jumping the gun a little.
You appear not to have trust in your Reiki Master.
Your Reiki Master will instruct you in their understanding of what becoming a Reiki Master means and also in the way that they have been taught to Attune/Empower others.
The ways of passing Attunements are many and varied - and yet they all work! They method written in the book you are now reading probably - in fact almost certainly - will not be the same as the method your Master will teach.
If you want to read another method of passing Attunements then read 'Essential Reiki' by Diane Stein.
If I had thought it helpful to you I would have offered to sell you one of my manuals but you really do need to find your trust in your Reiki Master.
If you haven't got trust in the ability of your Reiki Master to give you the 'right' teaching - why are you going to him/her and (apparently) wasting your money?
If you DO choose to go to your Reiki Master, attend the lesson(s) with an open mind and accept what (s)he teaches you without comparison with your book. Hopefully, they will be doing their very best for you and you will see this and appreciate it.

Yes, it does look like I don't trust my Reiki Master doesn't it. I have switiched Masters, as my original master wants £1000 for the master attunement, my new master accepts donations only.
My friend went to this new master for her first attunement, although I found him very good and thorough, I was a little disapointed to find that he was updating all his manuals and didn't have any ready, my friend is still waiting for her first manual, 3 weeks later, so I just thought, it might be good to have something has a back up in case they still aren't ready when I go for the master attunement.
Can I just ask, if my new master teaches me different to the way the book teaches, will I always have to teach the way I am taught, or can I change to what I have read from the book. I must admit, I do like the sound of the attuenemts from the book?
I actually saw this master give my friend her first attunement and to be honest, I do think it is the same as the book tells it too.

Dear Angel/Sky,
Once you are a Reiki Master you will be able to Attune yourself and others how you wish.
I changed my Attunement Symbols to suit those more 'true' to Reiki when I discovered what the 'true' Symbols were.
If you are wodering if your chosen Attunement will work - then provided that your intent is for your chosen Attunement process to work - then it will.
As say the precepts - do not worry.
