I'm doing mini-treatments next week and I'm beginning to get cold feet[sm=eeeK.gif]. I have re-read the other threads on mini-treatments,and feel better already. However, I do have a question regarding the seating arrangements.

My first session is going to be at the local PTA school fair, with lots of kids milling about, who by nature are very inquisitive and may want to watch which is sort of okay with me but may make the person I'm giving Reiki too feel self-conscious? I am aware that at Health Fairs people expect mini-treatments and are therefore more open to being exposed, as it were, as everybody is doing it, but I'm talking run of the mill school fair here, where people can be a wee bit on the conservative side.

I don't have a screen, so I'm not sure to be honest. What do you guys use, if anything? Do you just sit in the open or have a quiet corner? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hugs,
Holistic Earth

RE: More questions on Reiki mini-treatments

Hi Holistic Earth

Do you just sit in the open or have a quiet corner?

A quiet corner would be nice...provided you are not tucked away somewhere where you may get overlooked, otherwise you will need to go for the 'open' space...however, one of the things you could do is send Reiki to the situation requesting that wherever you have to set up .... please can you have your own space in which to do the mini treatments...
Universe providing and all that:)

Many blessings

Hi Holistic Earth
Good tip above, send reiki ahead for peace, calm, love and light.
Also give yourself a mini session before you start.
Its hard with kids and people milling around, but if you're relaxed so will your client be.

If its particularly noisy, i sometimes use a feather! i get the client to look at it, feel it, then close their eyes and imagine the feather in their minds eye, floating gently in the breeze, drifting away.......... and usually they don't here the noise going on around

just for today do not worry

Thanks Stormdeva and DC - I love the idea of the feather. And I will send lots and lots of Reiki to the situation.

Oh, and do you bring your own chairs or just use what is available?

I generally pick a quiet corner and find that people rarely come closer than a few feet, but you can set up a Reiki boundary around yourself and the client with intent or by drawing the power symbol on the floor.

I think it's good if kids are interested, however. You can quietly ask them to stand back if they push too close without bothering the client - unless she's their mother! 😀

Giving healing at any fair or mind body and soul exhibition is always on the noisy side, and those going for the taster are fully aware of that, so don't worry as it can't be helped.

Another idea is to ask your client to go somewhere nice whilst you're giving the treatment, I always say "It may help if you go to your favourite place, a beach, a forest, a meadow, somewhere where you feel comfortable and safe". This normally does the trick.

Have fun and enjoy it.

RE: More questions on Reiki mini-treatments

Hi,

You may find it a good idea to have a table at the front where people walk past..maybe put some leaflets on it etc..you can be there to talk to people and get interest.

then have your chair or couch or whtever you want to use back from table a little bit..the table will act as a boundary and you will have a space where interested people can be..but also a space which is set back and will feel a little quieter and a little more privacy..that way people wont be milling around and the person recieiving wont feel they are on display so much,

good luck,

hal

RE: More questions on Reiki mini-treatments

Hi,

I have been attending PTA nights for a couple of years now and am constantly amazed at the power of Reiki! I have had a Salsa dance demo go on near my 'area' and thought the clients would never relax enough, BUT they did!!! I have had raffle ticket numbers being called out during sessions ( one time the person in the chair was a winner) but still they manage to drift off. When I ask them what they felt they say that they are aware of what's going on around them but it seems far away so it doesn't bother them lol.
I tend to ask for a quieter area if possible, with a table and 2 chairs. I set the table up against a wall and put out my leaflets and display board (made by my husband a few years ago) on the table so that it can easily be seen without people having to come up close to read it. I place one chair facing the board for the client to sit on (facing away from the room) and one chair to the side of the table for me to sit on if no one is having a 'go' at that moment! People who are interested in what you are doing tend to respect the invisible boundary while they watch.

Hope I haven't rambled on and the above is of help!

Love and light
