Hi everyone
I was just wondering whether there are any benefits to joining a Reiki 'federation' (eg Reiki Federation, Reiki Alliance). I am a practicing Holistic Therapist and already have insurance for Reiki. However, I am going to start teaching Reiki.....but I don't want to be throwing good money away just to put a logo on my leaflets!
I'd appreciate your thoughts and experiences, please.
Much love and light

RE: Joining a Reiki 'federation'
Hi White Light, I'm surprised no one has answered this as yet... I can only speak from my limited experience, but not being part of any 'official' Reiki organisation hasn't made any appreciable difference to me or my healing practice.
I got put off it when my friend, who was then a member of the Reiki Alliance, was told that it had been decided that all members would only treat down to the pelvis and not treat the legs at all! Since she didn't agree with this strange ruling and since having her name on the referral lists had not brought her any clients at all in all the years she'd been a member, she decided it was money best spent elsewhere. She has never regretted leaving the organisation.
Another friend left the RA when they wouldn't give her a satisfactory answer as to why they charged as much as they did for intitiations. She wanted to know exactly how and why the amounts had been arrived at and was totally ignored. (this was some years ago, so things may have changed)
I got put off the Reiki Fed. when they never replied to my query about the inclusion of the Fraudulent Mediums Act in their articles of conduct. As a practising medium/spiritual healer who sometimes gets spiritual information during sessions, I wanted to know where exactly they stood on this point. No... answer...
So... that's my take on 'official' organisations.

RE: Joining a Reiki 'federation'
Hi There
Just a note to say that I was reading the Healthy magazine from Holland and Barratt. They had an article on Reiki. At the end of the article they told people interested in Reiki to contact the Reiki Federation with number and email address.

RE: Joining a Reiki 'federation'
Hi White Light,
The only benefits of belonging to a Reiki organisation are that they keep you up to date with any legal developments affecting Reiki. These might not be reported by other therapy organisations and in the general Press.
At the moment there is no need to belong to any organisation but, if the Reiki Organisations band together - as has been suggested recently, and it becaomes necessary for every professional reiki practitioner to be registered then you might have to find an organisation to join or change the name of the therapy you give. Registration might, in this instance, be adopted as the standard by the insurance companies and so be forced upon you - if you needed insurance.
The thing to do is not to worry.
