Does anyone here practice Integrated Energy Therapy? Or has anyone received a treatment? I've looked on the internet, and this seems to be the main website, although I haven't yet perused it really thoroughly - it's a pretty big site:

I also did a search here on HP and found only one similar question of some 18 months ago, with one reply which suggested a kinship to Reiki. I'm not sure this is so, though it was created by a Reiki Master, but this is the reason I've put my query here rather than in a general therapy forum.

It's personal experiences I'd like to hear about if others are willing to share. Many thanks in advance.

RE: Integrated Energy Therapy

I don't have personal experience but I have a leaflet from a lady I met who was a Master-Instructor of IET.
I'll type some of it out here for you...

Leaflet of Anita Cotterall - IET(r) Master-Instructor
Integrated Energy Therapy
IET is one of the 'next generation' energy therapies and is NEW to the UK.

Integrated Energy Therapy was developed by Stevan J. Thayer at the Center of Being, New Jersey.

IET Supports you in safely and gently releasing limiting energy patterns of your past, empowering and balancing your life in the present and helps you to reach for the stars as you evolve into the future.

Benefits of IET
Painlessly identifies and releases your deeply suppressed feelings and your core cellular memories.

Clears energy blocks that limit your health, life purpose, prosperity and creativity.

Provides gentle yet powerful support for survivors of childhood traumas such as phsical and sexual abuse, alcoholic and dysfunctional families.

Supports your self-healing at all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

IET Sessions
We start the session by discussing which areas of healing you wish to focus on. During the IET session, you lie fully clothed and relaxed on a massage table while soft soothing music is played in the background. Next, IET energy is systematically directed into the specific areas ofyour body's cellular memory by means of gentle theraputic touch, and powerful IET techniques are used to gently get your issues out of your tissues for good.

Your first IET sessions will likely be focused on using the Basic and Intermediate IET ray to clear the limitiations and painfrom your past. As the pain from your past clears, we will use the Advanced IET ray to help you manifest your life's vision and bring your dreams alive.

At the end of the IET session, it is typical to feel relaxed, recharged and energised.

A Complementary Holistic Therapy
Integrated Energy Therapy iscomplementary to other healing arts and can be used alone or in combination with other holistic or traditional approaches to accelerate your self healing journey. However IET is not a replacement for traditional medical approaches.

Please note that while IET can be very effective, no medical claims are mad as the effect or outcome of this treatment approach. Each person is encouraged to be responsible in the use and choice of professional healing assistance as needed.

Fees
£40 per hour
Discount available when booking a course of 6 sessions

IET Training Courses
IET is a powerful self-healing technique and can be used to facilitate the treatment of clients. IET can be used as a stand alone therapy technique or incorporated as a powerful addition to other techniques such as Reiki and Therapeutic Massage.

She's based in Stourbridge (south Birmingham) and I have her phone number if you want to call and ask any questions. Just send me a PM.

Personally, I don't know what to make of it. Sounds a little like a Reiki treatment, but I'm not totally convinced about the emotions etc. being locked away in the body's tissue. Doesn't quite fit in with my own belief of the conscious/unconscious mind and how EFT works in this area.

Hope that is useful

Love and Reiki Hugs

Giles, my most humble apologies. *Grovels*. I was so sure I'd posted a quick thank you to you here for so kindly copying from Anita Cotterall's leaflet, while I was carrying out a little "research" of my own. When I came back to the thread just now, I see this isn't so … so much for "intent" here then! Oh dear, you must think me very rude.[&o] Also, I have hardly been on HP in recent weeks, for a number of reasons.

I spoke to Anita a few nights ago, because there's an 0845 number given on the IET website directory, whichlists her as being in Devon, and …. hooray, she's in Devon, about 20 miles from me! She moved from Stourbridge a year or so ago. (I'll PM the no. to you for comparison, but I'm sure it'll be one and the same.) She doesn't have a website of her own at the moment.

Now, to back-track a bit. I first of all posted here because I had met somebody – socially – who is an IET practitioner at Advanced level. (Incidentally, I wasn't being sneaky in not saying so at the time … just not wanting to approach the subject with any sort of bias, ie from a neutral place.) I subsequently went for a treatment, more out of curiosity than anything, and because what I had read on the website about the violet angelic energy ray really resonated with me.

Personally, I don't know what to make of it. Sounds a little like a Reiki treatment …..

Yes, it was a little like a Reiki treatment, though there was less hands-on. Initially, I felt a bit spaced out , but that only lasted about 24 hours and was replaced by a noticeable increase in motivation, focus, energy … all good stuff like that.:) So although I don't feel I can make definitive statements after just one treatment, I shall probably pursue this further. More treatments definitely.

There are also similarities to Reiki in the structure, level by level, of attunements (again, more details on the IET website ). One difference is that only a handful of people can attune to the top level – that of Master Instructor Trainer – and they're all in the USA, though they do come over to Europe periodically.

….. but I'm not totally convinced about the emotions etc. being locked away in the body's tissue. Doesn't quite fit in with my own belief of the conscious/unconscious mind and how EFT works in this area.

I do believe this, actually, and from my own experience, not just based on having been told this is so. Without wanting to go too far off topic, I'll just make brief reference to this thread:

[link= http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=107148 ]http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=107148[/link]
which was initially about seeing auras, but please
see my post #20 here if interested. Itincludes a quote from a Kirlian photography website re the psycho-physical body.I also referedto a workshop I attended, it was run by one of the top UK Kirlian people, who also happens to be a psychotherapist!

However, I know very little about EFT, so can't really comment on what you say about it – though I see it highly recommended across the boards – so here's a possibly daft question: When you do EFT you tap on collar bones and other places on the body, don't you? So is that just about there being a connection to the mind? Meridians?

I'm also happy to pass on Anita's contact details if anyone wants to PM me.

Renewed thanks! 🙂

Laura.

Hi Laura - IET sounds interesting. I'm responding tothetheory as to whether we store our emotions in our body tissues and how this fits in with EFT theory. There issome research to suggest that EFT doesn't actually work by tapping on the meridians. (The conclusion that the researchers choose to draw is that EFT is a distraction technique, and therin lies it's success with phobias etc., and thus as far as they were concerned they explained theirresults away!) One can get the same results as EFT in an even shorter and simpler way through Emotrance - which is just to focus on an issue, find where you feel it in your head or your body, breathe into that feeling with the intention of softening it, and then feel it drip, slide, or evaporate out of your tissues. It seems to me then
a) that emotions are stored in our tissues,
b) that breath is a key feature in release of tension more research on that [DLMURL="http://www.eftdownunder.com/docs/EFTStudy.htm"]here[/DLMURL]- (this paper was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 2001. It's rather long, - basically EFT was tested against diaphragmatic breathingfor reduction of phobia symptoms - both worked well, EFT came out better)
c) that alerting our conscious mind to where the emotions are stored are also key to the process
d)that intending to release the feeling is also a component

I have been combining EFT and Emotrance and Reiki, and the combination works very well -not too dissimilar from IET, as far as I can make out, except my clients are seated, and I'm not accessing (consciously anyway!) any angels!

Keep us posted on your IET sessions!

Regards,
Sharon.

RE: Integrated Energy Therapy

Laura, I'm glad the information helped. [sm=hug.gif]

Now I've been thinking about the emotions stored away in tissue and I guessit depends how you look at it.
I always tend to look at things from an energy point of view, so to me the emotions are energy patterns that we keep stored away in our mind. As those of us familiar with EFT and other meridian therapies will understand, when a trigger comes along, the memory of that trigger retrieves that energy pattern from our mind and imposes it on our physical body's energy system (the meridian system) thus causing us to feel the emotion or physical pain associated with that emotion.

So I guess the question should really be, what is "the mind" in relation to the physical body and how are these energy patterns stored.

IMO, if the emotions could be stored in any tissue in the body, then it would be possible to remove someones emotion for a particular thing by, for example, chopping off their finger, or perhaps a little less drastically, by scraping a layer of skin tissue away. I personally think the emotions are stored in a type of energy "store" that is linked to our physical energetic body, and cannot be directly healed or removed through treating just the physical tissue. I say "just" because the energy body is connected so closely to the physical body.

Definitely an interesting topic....

That's interesting - I haveread somewhere that people who haveheart transplants take on some of the personality (dietary preferences for instance) of the donor - but I don't know if this is substantiated in any way!
I'm starting a thread on the scientific forumon a theory as to how all this works. I hope that's the right place for it.

RE: Integrated Energy Therapy

Yes, DarrenFTP, isn't it! 🙂 Can't pretend to understand the biology/scientific aspects, however.

Giles and Sharon, thanks for your replies. So now we high-tail it to the Science forum:

where I hope it's OK that I've also posted a link to this thread.

Keep us posted on your IET sessions!

Sure will! 🙂

Laura.
