You know I never knew about my 'higher self' in that term before learning about reiki. It was through the Namaste cd meditation where you guided to meet yourself that I 'met' myself. This, I believe, is why I think of my higher self as 'separate but within'. Thinking about it, it does seem ridiculous that I would see it as separate. By seeing her as separate and as all knowing etc then I am taking away my own strengths and instead leaning on her. If she is me then there is no she it is only me :D..

Actually, I feel that it is just me. It is my gut instinct, it is my heart, it is the belly laughter and raw emotion that comes from not from my mind but my heart.

Fantastic question Star, one that has got me thinking and feeling. Thank you 🙂

Hence why Ruby says that nowadays the "higher self" is misinterpreted by some practices, not that you've done the misinterpreting, but it has been misrepresented to you in that way.

Actually, I feel that it is just me. It is my gut instinct, it is my heart, it is the belly laughter and raw emotion that comes from not from my mind but my heart.

I would say it isn't even from your heart.

I would say that the Higher Self is what is truly me, and all 'other' things are not (they're just dualistic concepts being created in my awareness). If I see something as 'other' (seperate from myself) then that cannot be my Higher/True Self... not in itself.

🙂

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Hi Jnani

Self is not aspect of your consciousnss, It is beyond consciousness. Higher self is very common phrase these days...mostly wrongly interpretted, because it is not something that can be put in framework of what you already know. It is not intution ither, it is beyond knowing. IT is Unknowing, if anything...

I agree with some of your response but not other aspects. 🙂

I agree with your understanding that our higher self does not fit into the framework that we already posses, but I have said on more than one occasion that I was happy to let go of my understanding and learn a different way which allowed me to function with my higher self in a more concise and meaningfully way.

That does not mean that my everyday thinking aspect of consciousness can fully comprehend the enormity of my higher consciousness aspect of self, any more than it can fully rationalise the oneness of consciousness which is made up of all of our higher selves and other beings of pure consciousness who are not exploring different realities, but I have enough understanding to function with my higher aspect of self and teach others who are prepared to self realise and embrace the oneness of consciousness to do the same.

The part that I do not agree with is that our higher self is not an integral aspect of our consciousness, my higher self does give me intuition or 'inner tuition' which is what intuition is, tuition that comes from self, it is our pure consciousness aspect of self, just because it does not chatter for the sake of it like our everyday thinking aspect of consciousness does with our memory aspect of consciousness, does not mean that it is not consciousness, it still communicates when we need to know something, otherwise it is happy to observe our life experiences non-judgmentally.

We have many aspects of consciousness, which are all created by our higher aspect of self whenever we choose to come here, this is similar to the way that our physical body forms from a single cell, it is my completeness with all aspects of self and the oneness of consciousness which allows me to heal and transform peoples underlying thought patterns and beliefs within consciousness, using nothing more than consciousness.

It is possibly terminology that is getting in the way, to my understanding 'consciousness' equates to awareness and perception, the oneness of consciousness is both aware and perceptive, so to my understanding beyond consciousness is nothing, for without consciousness, it could not be perceived, which is why I keep telling people that everything begins and ends with a thought. 🙂

Unfortunately consciousness is not understood, I often read on these forums that it is wrong to grow animals for food consumption, but it is fine to grow crops for food consumption, the reality is that they both contain consciousness and are both aware of their surroundings and each other, they both feel distress when harvested!

I would say that it is not so much our higher aspect of self which is misunderstood, but the essence of our higher aspect of self which is pure consciousness which is misunderstood or misrepresented in various forms. 🙂

This isn't true though is it, Paul. The phrase you often use when refer erring to the healing of a client is "You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink".

So, YOU can't "heal and transform peoples underlying thought patterns and beliefs within consciousness":

We have many aspects of consciousness, which are all created by our higher aspect of self whenever we choose to come here, this is similar to the way that our physical body forms from a single cell, it is my completeness with all aspects of self and the oneness of consciousness which allows me to heal and transform peoples underlying thought patterns and beliefs within consciousness, using nothing more than consciousness.

....you often say they have to CHOOSE, or are: "prepared to self realize" ; or must: "EMBRACE self" . YOU can't heal them they have to choose.

Which means no guarantees, doesn't it. If they have "chosen before coming here" (that's your view) to not heal, then that's what will happen. If they CHOOSE not to heal; embrace self etc then YOU cannot heal them: "you can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"

.....AND, imv ALL healing that comes apparently from another person... Reiki ~ Whatever. Is a merely a TALISMAN .(sometimes a very expensive talisman!!!) .

God (or whatever you want to call it) is doing the TRUE healing, everything else is EGOS STEALING the credit!!!!

Whose ego is it if I consider that the spirits are doing (at least part of) the healing? And who - iyv - imbues the talisman with healing? And where do "Higher Selves" come into this?

The missing word here is 'consent', since it is my understanding that we are all personally responsible for our own thought patterns and beliefs, then I require them to consent to any transformational healing work that I am happy to offer them, if I do not have their consent, then I will do nothing, for they are happy to choose to remain the way that they are and I am happy to respect their chosen way of being. 🙂

Why would they come to you in the first place,Paul, if they were happy to to choose to remain the way they are?

Well some people are told to come by good intentioned friends and family, other people know that they are creating their problem but are looking for a fix without being prepared to change. 🙂

This is going to end up in the same old loophole.

-YOU Paul on the one hand saying everyone is responsible for their own thought patterns/beliefs.

-YOU then taking the responsibility out of their hands when "healing through consciousness"

-If they're not healed YOU saying that side of the fence (the "other" - where there is no other in reality) was THEIR choice.

WS

Yeah this all tends to go round and round an round an round. Stopping tho getting dizzy now =)

I agree that God does the healing but if course the IF is that we have to get ourselves out of the way first. Nobody but nobody will ever know another person well to make their choices for them let alone decide what and how they need to be healed.

But getting yourself and what you want to happen out the way is not a common way of working with energy all too often it revolves around the healers intention or control/manipulation. They tend to be entirely wrapped up in what THEY want to do.

Some people such as Paul create a way of working that fits what they think is correct and actually that is far easier to do than understand what exists naturally. That's entirely ok of course we are all different and act accordingly. You only have to look and the hundreds of systems on offer.

Me? i just do what comes naturally without personal thought intention or control. Being totally open can be a bitch to live with but it does have its advantages.
