Hi guys,
As most of you know I did my Reiki 1 a little while ago. I am no back on holiday in South Africa. A few of my friends who knew that I did my reiki want me to try it out on them BUT i just can't bring myself to do it and I dont know why?? ITs like I have Reiki stage fright or something! [:o]
I know I need to (and want to practice) but Im just SO scared to?!??
RE: HELP?
Hi MysticMoon,
That's Reiki stage fright!! I've been level two for about 3 -4 yrs now but had a must be 18mth break where i only did distant work ... then i had a call out of the blue, would i do hands on???? i said yes but boy oh boy was i apprehensive. so see it doesn't just happen to you;). I was just like you & I bet so was nearly everyone else when they first started. Take a deep breath & relax, do a small meditation b4 hand Centre yourself & relax as much as you can. I sometimes find doing a mini self healing first helps to.
Explain to your family & Friends that because you're new to this, you still are learning about how the energy comes through. Just relax, follow your intuition & place your hands where you feel they should be even if you have no idea why. Enjoy Hunni & grab the chances of having willing G Pigs. Good luck Hunni, Tho i'm sure you wont need it;) The more you practice the easier & stronger it gets (so ive heard) I know if I do any demo fairs that the more I do the stronger the energy becomes.
Love & Hugs Maria xxx
RE: HELP?
Snap! I too was SO nervous the first time I was asked to do a session, but as our dear Paul says "just for today do not worry"!! Reiki found US, it chose us to do its work so the least we can do is give it a go lol .
Try not to have any thoughts on what you expect to happen because you will put yourself under pressure and then will not 'feel' anything happening. Go with the flow, even if you feel nothing the person receiving is the one who should be feeling the effects!
Good luck ( even though I know you don't need it!)

RE: HELP?
There is nothing more that I can add.
Just relax, give the Reiki and Enjoy, Mystic Moon.
RE: HELP?
Hi,
A First Degree Reiki level is primarily for self healing, so if you are feeling nervous or reticent it is probably because your intuition is telling you you are not ready to give healings to others.
Work on yourself as much as you can - after all change always comes from within and not through others.
Love and light,
Christina
RE: HELP?
I do find it intersting that there are different views about what each level of reiki "permits" us to do.
My master taught us that Reiki 1 was for self-healing and the healing of pets, family, friends and plants. We were encouraged to practice on as much as possible. Reiki 2, apart from the attunements, was about learning the symbols, ensuring that we were confident with healing others and what we were doing and discussing the necessary "business" things such as insurance, legal requirements and obtaining suitable client information etc.
I wouldn't say that Reiki 1 was primarily for self healing, I would say that Reiki full-stop is primarily for self healing, with the added bonus that we can treat others. The key difference between treating others between reiki 1 and 2 is that once you have level 2 you will be able to get your insurance and therefore can charge people for the treatments. (I know you can charge beforehand, but that would be at your own risk).
Love, Light and Reiki Hugs...... what a lovely sunny day it is.... and I'm happy.
RE: HELP?
I think I'm with Giles on this.
Once you have been Attuned to Reiki at level 1 you ARE a healer.
Proceeding on to the Levels 2 and 3 is a further stage in your personal development BUT not necessarily your healing ability. The next level do NOT make you a better or more competent healer. Only YOU, practising on yourself and others can do this.
There are Level 1 Reiki Healers who are better healers that some Level 3 Masters because they do much more healing on themselves and others.
There is no such thing as 'I'm only a Level 1'. You ARE a healer who just happens to be a level 1.
Please be content, practise as much as you can and .......................... DON'T WORRY!!!

Great comments here and of course I agree with Giles and Paul...
I had the most wonderful experiences while doing Reiki on friends and family after being attuned to Reiki I...
Just let the Reiki do the work for you Leigh... And like Paul said... Just for today DON'T WORRY!
RE: HELP?
Whenever I get "reiki satge fright" I try to remember the following:
I don't need to worry about giving reiki, because I am not in control of it. Reiki is an 'intellegent' and powerful energy, and therefore I don't need to use my mind to direct or control it in any way. As the saying goes, "hands on, reiki on. Hands off, reiki off." It really is as simple as that!
After you've grounded and protected yourself before a treatment, imagine reiki as a kind of cosmic pool. Just take a moment to connect with that image and see yourself kneeling beside the pool. Reach into the pool with your fingers until your hands are immersed in the water... feel confident in the knowledge that reiki is available to everyone, all you have to do is dip your hands in and take some!
Hope this helps:D

I prefer "Intention on, reiki on. Intention off, reiki off" myself. ;):D
RE: HELP?
Yes, it does have a more accurate meaning doesn't it After all, it wouldn't have quite the same effect if you only ever focussed on what you were going to do once you'd finished the treatment session.
RE: HELP?
Hi mysticmoon,
Everyone has made some good comments, but I would just like to add if you are having doubts then don't do it. Work on yourself as much as possible and when the time is right for you to work on others it will come. You need to build up your confidence and highest good first and then you will know when you are ready. Just do what your intuition tells you.
Happy Easter everyone.
RE: HELP?
I agree, but I think if you get 'stuck' in the self-healing then it's easy to lose confidence in healing others and think 'Oh forget it, I don't trust myself to do it on others, I'm obviously not a natural'. I'm not saying that reiki is ultimately about healing others- it doesn't have to be if you decide you're only comfortable with the self healing. However, if the will to offer healing to others is definately there, one does have to start somewhere! I've found the more treatments you do on others, the more confident you become:D
RE: HELP?
Hear, hear, Azalia. I endorse what you are saying. When I did Reiki 1 all those years ago, we were actively encouraged by our RM to use it and to practice on others all we could, as well as ourselves. Confidence comes from the feedback, as I've said before in this forum.
Also I cannot help but wonder whether the "stage fright" some people experience is maybe not specific to Reiki and their fitness to practice it on others, but could apply to ANY new activity which might feel a bit daunting at first ... and perfectly understandably.:)
"Intuition" is to be heeded, yes, if it is truly intuition, and not just fear being used as an excuse not to do something. I think it is quite important to be able to tell the difference.

Lovely analogy Azalia... I like that and might use it some time...
RE: HELP?
Hi MysticMoon,
It seems all have it covered for you here....the only think I would add to the above is try to get in on a reiki share (or reiki circle). They give you the chance to chat with others face to face who may have experienced the same as you. It also gives you the chance to have a go but along side others........ just an extension to your Reiki training really. It’s also great for making new friends; its how I’ve made most of mine in York.
Love, Light and Reiki.

RE: HELP?
Hi,
Being new to the forum, I am not yet sure of which button to click for a general reply, not specific to a particular post. Will learn soon!
My experience has been slightly different.
I heard the word “Reiki” for the first time on February15 or 16, 2001 but the person could not explain what it was because he was not a Reiki healer himself. The only thing he could tell was that it is some energy healing system and can be learnt. I felt interested, found a Reiki teacher in a city 300 kilometers away from my city of living, got an appointment and received first degree attunements on February 19, 2001. Entire first degree course including the formalities of filling out a form, hello hi and attunements etc. finished in about an hour and a half. No teaching on how to give Reiki, hand positions, self healing or anything else. He only told me how to connect before giving Reiki and that too at the door when I was leaving. I didn’t know what all would be or should be taught to me. So, with this “training course” I returned happily and highly excited. I found some information in the training manual given to me, which I later found was only an apology to a manual. A few pages had been written by someone else, given the name of “Training Manual” and was being used by my teacher, though under the original name. Primarily it contained history and barely visible hand positions. With this background, I started full body Reiki sessions. My wife was my first “target”. Within two weeks I was inviting people to come and receive a Reiki session. No hesitation, no stage fright, no doubt whether Reiki would work or not. I do not know why but I was very sure that Reiki ‘will’ work and so it did.
My feeling is that our confidence in Reiki and ourselves matters a lot. The element of stage fright creeps in due to our hesitation and perhaps some lack of trust in Reiki. We know that it follows our intentions, beyond any doubt. If we wish to do Reiki, it will flow no matter where we are and who is the recipient. Trust Reiki, you will have no stage fright. There could yet be an entirely different cause. Looking for that cause and sorting it out can also be helpful.
My experience of receiving the second degree was no different but the experience of using it was very different and exciting. I shall write about it some other time.
RE: HELP?
Guys, thank you ALL SO much, I wish I could reply to you all individually but I am at an internet cafe and pushed for time...
I did want to say that ALL your replies helped SO much.... You have NO idea... Don't know what I would do without you guys. I read your replies and thought about them and the following day managed to get over my "reiki stage fright" and gave a good fried of mine some reiki that evening. It went REALLY well... I still can't give it to some that have asked but I think that is coz they don't really believe in it and that makes me uncomfy. BUt at least I know I can do it know. You guys helped me take a what seemed at the time a big step... Thank you to each and everyone of you....
BIG hugz and lotsa love to you all!
Leigh:)
RE: HELP?
Thank YOU … it's always nice to get feedback from posts here … and from those to whom we've given Reiki.
When I give Reiki to someone for the first time, I tell them they might feel heat … or cold … or tingling … or nothing at all! And that all are perfectly normal. So hopefully neither of us has any expectations.
Another thing to bear in mind is that if we can be, and remain, detached from any outcome, it matters less than trying to convince people that Reiki DOES work. I hope this helps you a little with those who ask for Reiki but say they don't believe in it … rather than MAKING it work, or hoping that it will, just ALLOW it to.
I've kept this as brief as possible in view of your limited time online at present, and in the hope of "catching" you. Hope you're having a wonderful holiday anyway.
