Hi folks

I have seen somewhere a thread about not sending distant healing to someone who hasn't asked for it - can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I would like to send reiki to someone who I think may benefit and I know she is willing to try ANYTHING (her own words) to relieve the pain and discomfort she has. Could I send some and then tell her when I see her again?

RE: Distant Healing

I posed this question on this forum quite recently, and got a great concensus of opinion in response. Here's the link:

Best wishes,

HI JM,

What's preventing you from asking her BEFORE? It's usually the question that I ask myself to help sort out my motivations...
I do not know the person you mention, but I have met a few people claining they would "try anything" but when it comes to following any suggestion they don't do anything...

RE: Distant Healing

Thanks Holistic - have re-read your link which somehow I couldn't find the other day when I was searching for it! Very helpful.

Artemis - I understand what you are saying, thanks for the advice. I expect it comes down to my fear of failure/rejection in the end which I didn't want to acknowledge! So thanks for helping me see clearly.

RE: Distant Healing

Hi JM

It is IMO correct protocol to ask the recipients higher self before sending the healing, you do this by connection in the energy with the person, once you feel the connection ask if it is ok to either send the energy or to do a complete treatment remotely and wait for a response.

How you preserve the response will be up to you, personally I either get a rush of the energy which means yes or it feels like I have hit a brick wall which to me means no and then act on what I sense at the time 🙂

To JM:

Yes, it's very easy to lose a thread 😉 with the posts coming thick and fast.

Handy Hint: If you can remember just one name of someone who posted, or perhaps Paul or Paul Crick if in this forum, go to their Profile and you will find a list of their most recent posts. Just click on the one you want and it will take you straight to it. Useful shortcut - saves lots of rummaging!

To Artemis:

I totally agree with you - some people have a vested interest in NOT healing, and one just has to accept this.

Caroline Myss has written a wonderful book: Why People Don't Heal and How They Can.

Hi Jaymee

Just my opinion mind, but I wouldn't think twice about saying a prayer for someone in need so I treat Reiki the same way. Then if the person calls out for healing/help its there ready and waiting. Of course its much nicer for the person concerned if they know you're sending it because they know you care. 🙂

RE: Distant Healing

Hi Poppet and all,

In my personal view, prayer is not exactly the same as sending a treatment. With a prayer I ask someone higher than myself -and who I consider knows better than me- to please do somehting for someone else who I believe needs help. With Reiki I am the one who decides "I know this will be good for you, so here it comes, whether you want/like it or not". Would we ever think of bypassing someone's refusal for a hands on treatment and force them to lye down on our couch?! Sending a distant treatment to someone who does not want it feels a bit the same for me. And what if the person feels some "strange things" during the treatment that they do not know it is send to them? Would be quite spooky! I regularly send distant treatments of all sorts, but I always make sure the person knows about it. A few times I get a feedback asking me to confirm that I really did send the treatment because the person felt some tingling or some other strong reaction and wanted to make sure they were not going crazy! My only exception is if someone that I know is usually OK with Reiki tells me in an e-mail that they are having this cold coming and I can't get in touch with them directly right away. In this case I uses Paul C's "asking the higher self" method and tell the person afterwards that I have send them Reiki.
