This can be a quite an indepth discussion about reiki distant attunments.
People can be rather skeptical when it comes to recieving an attunment to a reiki system from some one they do not know and could live a long way away.
I have made another post previously about the Shamballa reiki system and Seichim system. Now I have been so impelled to both of them for a good while now, however I can not find anyone in my area that provides the sttunments, never mind at a reasonable rate. Any way needless to ay it has only been recently that I have been guided to some one who provides distant attunments.
Two live in America
One lives in Ireland
Now I have seen people advertising their skills in sending attunments from a distance, especially on ebay, and I am not goign to lie and say I am not at least intrigued. Though at times I do frown when I see on just how many they provide! As well as the very reaspnable price
I know that such can be a sweet temptation, delving for your card and paying them. Yet who can truly say that the attunment will be sent never mind that the person is genuinly attuned to the particualr system your interested in:rolleyes:
I have recieved distant attunment in the past, for etheral crystals 1-6 and you had to peel me of the cieling such was the experience and the energy that came with it (energy ball system recieved upon meditation/contemplation) So I knew it was for real
Any way how do you all feel about distant attunments and what are your experiences of them. I would appreciate your feedback views and indeed spews:D
Blessings
Jill
I know that distance attunements work, so I don't have any problem with that.
What I disagree with is those that do not offer after care support for the system they are attuning to; you know, the sort of "attune you and dissapear" type of "master".
Being a teacher/master to someone is more than just giving them an attunement, emailing them a manual and certificate to print out themselves and being done with it.
Therefore, I suggest to anyone seeking distance attunements to get in touch with the person first, talk to them about what they offer and be sure that you are getting a long term service rather than just giving someone a quick buck.

Well, although I am skeptical about distant attunements, I've actually had 2 (Celtic Reiki 1 and Crystal Reiki) and both times had amazing things happen, so it seems they do work.
Some very valid points thanks to both
And yes support should be a continual basis. Cross the T`s and Dot the i`s so to speak.
Oh and Energylz..where has your other avatar gone..you know the guy giving him self reiki...that was funny and very apt:D haha
Ooo blimey Itharial, that one was a long time ago, you do have a good memory. When the forum software changed the avatar sizes were a little smaller and limited in file size so that avatar would no longer work. I haven't had time to re-do it, although I did design this latest one. 😉 Every now and then it's good to have a change.

Ahh right ok Energylz:)
Anyone wish to share their perceptions, experiences and views on distant attunments.
Much Love
Jill:)
Over a period of years I've come to the opinion that whether they "work" or not isn't the issue - it's what you do with the attunements when you've had them. Do you think "that's it" and carry on regardless, or do you continue to learn and grow and use those attunements that you have been given?
For example, I know of someone who desperately wanted to be a Reiki master. He had a sign that he should do this and so went for a distant attunement and called himself a RM. But that was it. No more learning, going to Reiki shares or learning from other people. And the distant attunement offered a certificate, a manual and no more.
Really I suppose I'm saying the same as Giles here!
PS if you've had distant attunements before, why are you questioning them now?
I'd pretty much agree with Giles and Lavender Rose I believe...
The concept of Reiki attunements in the west appears to be quite different from the understanding of reiju (meaning "spiritual blessing") in Japan. In the west, Reiki practitioners sometimes chase after as many attunements from as many systems as we possibly can, in the hope that by doing so our healing abilities will become more powerful, and somehow we will find deeper spiritual fufillment as a result.
I think that this approach is often disappointing in the long run. I've had very positive experiences with attunements and reiju, but the real development in my Reiki practice has come with what i've done afterward: meditating daily on Usui's precepts, learning about breath and ki, treating myself and others, teaching (and learning) from my students.
But back to distant attunements... Many people report positive experiences from them, which is not suprising as Reiki exists in oneness, and knows no physical boundaries. It's not really something I'd do myself, because as Giles said, there's so much more to teaching than just giving someone a one-off attunement and sending them on their way. In fact, with many Japanese approaches to Reiki, teachers perform reiju for their students on an ongoing basis...it's lovely ritual they do each time they meet up, and very beneficial for both parties.
I guess I would probably be more critical about the causal way that distant attunements are sometimes used than the concept in itself.
So yes, do make sure that you'll receive some follow-up support in working with your new system, whatever that may be. And also that you feel that you'll be able to receive ongoing guidance from your teacher in working with all the new techniques you learn.

Its always good to question, however it brings things up to the surface to discuss, as well as a help 2 others.:)
I was distance-attuned to Reiki 2 years ago by a Reiki Master I knew briefly (I hadn't heard of Reiki at the time though & I didn't know he was a RM - he told me to think of him at a certain time, and phew did I go through something I just didn't understand ! but my Higher Self must have thought it was OK). My personal view now (I'm training as a RM) is that I wouldn't offer distance attunements myself, I suppose because of what happened to me. Everyone has their point of view - I feel that I would like to offer support face-to-face, by phone etc to my future students should they want it (as my true Reiki Masters do for me), and that I will prefer to give attunements in person. But hey, distance attunements obviously do work, as I know only too well!
Personally I much preffer the personal approach, the support, the `one to one` It gives reasurance to you as a RM and those who are being attuned and taught by you.
I spoke to my RM in Edinbrough today telling him I was interested in distant attunments. His response was. `I would not go any where near them!"
He is comming over here to stay the weekend, and said he would assist me in deepening my knowledge, as well as attuning me in the areas I am interested in. Woohoo Goody Goody:D I am very much ready for it
