Hi Armion

Sometimes people (giver and receiver) experience Reiki as a cool flow or breeze, which is just one of the ways our brain tries to interpret what is happening in a Reiki session.

Feeling a cold sensation in the hands or inside the body when over a particular area of the body indicates a byosen (an area of energetic imbalance). Some sources say that a cold spot indicates a deficiency of ki in that area while other sources say that it means there is a chronic energy blockage (one that has been there a long time). However, the fact that you sense something different in an area is the important thing and you should stay with your hands in that area for as long as possible or until the sensation disappears and feels the same as other areas.

Just to add to Colin's post, I have found from experience that in the majority of cases where the energy flow was felt as cold, the byosen was due to emotional causes.

I did my Reiki 2 course over the weekend. After the 2nd degree initiation, the energy that flowed from my hands the rest of the weekend (while practising sending reiki using the distance healing symbol) was so cool, and it truly did feel like a cool breeze blowing over my the palms of my hands. It was very noticeable for me as up until this point, I have always felt reiki energy as heat. I'm not feeling the need to question it too much though - I am happy to just experience it and let reiki flow - but I think it could have been down as much to the shift in my own energies, as to what or who I was sending it to.

I have always found that when I feel coldness, it is usually around a chakra area that is not in balance, and often as another post said , due to emotions, not physical problems. I often find the client also reports a cold rush when I am working on the area.
When i usually give reiki I often feel great warmth and it is the more rare coldness that I , or the client experiences that occurs less often. Each reiki treatment is different and the experience will be different each time depending on the clients emotional/physical state.

From my experiences I too have associated cool spots with emotions.
more often than not I feel it in peoples knees and mostly they have had a lot of pent up emotions that have even gone back to many years ago.

I just work on the area until the coldness has gone. When I do come across it I also work towards the feet where I visualise opening a flower on the soles of the feet and releasing the energy. Then closing them when I feel everything seems better. Works very well.

Interesting question, I discussing this with another therapist last week.
She feels hot and cold spots while I can tell if the energy is mental or physical by the way it feels.

Like Reikidebs I also feel cold areas around the knees - I also find that some people have cold areas around the throat and I usually find out from chatting to them that they often find it difficult to express themselves. Likewise the people I treat whom I know to have little trouble in expressing themselves have hotspots in the throat area.

The last time I felt coldness was when I was working on someone who had had both breasts removed through cancer. The coldness was above the breasts, and I put it down to the silicone implants she had.
