Hi,

I wanted to share an odd experience I had last night when treating someone, and wondered if this had happened to anyone else.

The background is that I am treating someone who has a trapped nerve in the back. It's causing pain in the upper legs and back, severe headaches and is being treated by the GP. I'm doing the Reiki treatment last thing at night which is particularly helping with sleep and there has been great improvement since this multi-disciplinary approach has been in force.

Last night, I prepared as usual. I like to ground myself, ensure I am protected from negative energy and give thanks for being able to channel Reiki.

I could sense a lot of healing was needed over the head - much heat and I was very strongly feeeling that I had to spend a long time here. Later I moved on the legs after treating some other areas. Whilst focussing on the legs I could feel intense waves of energy and there was a lot of 'muscle-jumping' from the client. It seemed clear that the leg areas were absorbing huge levels of Reiki. They were very blocked and I could sense the Reiki almost bombarding this area. And then, I started to get out of breath. It was as if I was running a marathon! It got so bad that I had to withdraw for fear of collapse! I was shattered. I went back to the head areas and slowly finshed the treatment.

Afterwards, my patient commented that they felt very nicley spaced out and had enjoyed the treatment very much. Myself - I was shattered and although it didn't feel negative - it has certainly taken it out of me.

Any thoughts?

Love Nell

Hi Nell,

"jumping" muscles are a sign of the energy getting unblocked (at least in the way I see it).
You should not feel breathless while doing Reiki. WHne my clients enrgy gets a bit too jumpy (whiel givingReikior HSiatsu) I make sure to check that I am still grounded and centred. And that I am still doing deep breathing. It can be easy to "forget to breath" while concnetrating on what is happening to the client.

Hi Nell

Sounds like you or should I say the energies where overworking your energy matrix which puts quite a strain on you the giver, the only remedy for this is to keep on working to enlarge your energy channels so more energy can pass through more quickly.

It is as the saying goes the more you practice the easier it gets, you have to build your energy muscles 😉

Hi,
I am never surprised by any side effects of Reiki.....I've had so many.
I often find that I am able to feel the emotion of whatever part I am treating, or the even the physical and emotional status of the client. All this information helps me to heal and assess the healing path.
I wouldn't assume that the out of breathness is anything other than that. I have even had a pounding heart...up to 160 beats per minute whilst healing someone with high blood pressure and also nausea, headache and dizziness when healing a hangover.
I think you should take all the breathing problems as a sign that you are sensitive and not that you are blocked.

Love and light,
Christina

Hi Nell,

I had a similar experience when I was first attuned.
I was treating someone else and began to feel dizzy, heart pounding and had to stop and rest.
As Paul said, I felt that the amount of Reiki energy being drawn through me by the client was more than I could cope with at the time.

I also agree with Christina, its a sign that something is happening and sometimes I'd prefer this than the times when I don't feel anything and wonder if anything has happened!

Thanks for all your insights. I've been giving Reiki treatments for quite some time now and should have a fairly good capacity for channeling it.

My instinct tells me that the client had a huge need for the energy - probably more than is usual.

Today, I have felt ok but have experinced a great level of exhaustion this afternoon. I'm sure I need to focus on self -treating only, for today.

Thanks again everyone:)
