I am a new member and would like to offer my little contribution. I "graduated" to Reiki Master back in 2007 and have been giving myself regular self healing since! Many years ago I was diagnosed with a problem in my back where the lower 5 discs between the vertibrae were "breaking down" and the specialist told me it would never get better but would get progressively worse and I would be reliant on "pain killers" for the rest of my life! he pain that I was experiencing at times was so much that I began to believe that this was going to be the case!
I have been "treating myself to regular Reiki Self Healing Sessions" at least 3 times a week since starting on my "Reiki Experience" and am now at the stage where I honestly can not remember when I last took a Pain Killer for my "Back Problem". I have to admit that I still get a few "twinges" and straight away have to administer some "self healing", but at least I am able to lead a relatively normal life compared to the life style that the doctor had painted for me! This to me is a true testimony to the healing power of Reiki! Just to add to that I also used to be a heavy smoker, smoking up to 50 a day, and Reiki has helped me to clear myself of that addiction as well!
One thing that I and the many people that I "help" with reiki have noticed is that whenever I attune myself ready to channel any Reiki Energies either to myself or to others the temperature in my hands seems to rise quite dramatically by several degrees compared to any other part of my body. This is often more noticable to those that I am sending the Reiki Energy to than to myself and it can be so much of a temperature rise at times that I have had a few "patients" that have said that they thought I was going to burn them with my hands! Does anyone else experience this temperature rise in their hands while channelling Reiki Energy!
Hiya - great to hear Reiki has helped you so much! It helped me too: I used to be afllicted with Rheumatoid Arthritis, walk with two sticks... now the only way you could tell is that my thumb joints have dropped and they don't work as well as they could do. I had a flare-up last week, though, and while in the past such flare-ups would put me out of action for weeks, it lasted for a few days. Reiki is truly wonderful.
I'm surprised you don't do self-healing in some form every day, though. I did the self-healing hand placement routine every day without fail for four years! Now I do a different meditation, but still use the self-healing routine when I need to, like before I pass attunements.
I'm frequently told about the heat coming from my hands, when I am giving Reiki. Sometimes I feel heat, other times I feel cold, tingling, vibrations. These sensations are called hibiki, by the way. Dr Hayashi codified these hibiki and told us what they mean.
Hi Chris, Thanks for the words of encouragement. When I say that I only give self healing a few times a week I am refering to giving it "concoiusly". Many is the time when I feel my hands and fingers "warming up" just as they do when I attune myself ready to give Reiki even though I am not thinking about anything in particular. I put this down to my body asking for "healing" and the Reiki Energies starting to flow "of their own accord" so to speak, and sending healing energies to where they are needed without me realising that they are needed! I could be wrong and it might just be "wishful thinking" but as long as it is working why worry?
I was attuned for my reikie 2 a few year ago and hope to go futher this year. I am trying to making new postive changes to add reiki into my life. I must admit though my family think its a load of pants. thats why i joined this forum yesterday so i can speak to like minded people. I have ben depressed for many years and came of my medication i knew it was the right time just the same way i knew i wanted to start my reiki 2 training this year. very often i feel my hand gettn warm and when i am giving massages my hands are drawn to areas which i find amazing. intersting hearing others experinces.:)
Hi all,
My hands go very hot too ... everyone is different though, I go heady and dizzy if there is too much energy coming through ...I feel warmth where there is energy - extreme heat where there is a problem or imbalance and ice cold where there are emotional blockages - I see lots of colour and pick up on emotions and messages for the recipient.
Horses are the best for healing, they go really dopey, their bottom lip droops and they drop their heads to the floor !!! - wonderful when you are healing a horse with a skeptical owner !!! How do others find healing themselves and each other ?

I have given Reiki for 3 years now and I have lost count of the number of times people have said, you have lovely warm hands, even if I am not that aware of the warmth myself. When giving Reiki I usually feel warmth in some areas I place my hands on the client/friend and have always taken it as a sign that the reiki is flowing and tend to leave my hands here for longer if it feels particularly warm, as that is often how I read the treatment to go.
I also do massage and reflexology and although I do not actively use reiki during these treatments, unless asked to these clients also comment about the warmth of my hands, interesting. I also feel, cold whooses at times, especially over certain chakra points,heart/solarplexus. I often feel tingling in my hands and this occurs when I am near electrical equipment, tv controls, the mouse of the computer etc. All interesting stuff!
It's so lovely so hear about how reiki has dramatically improved people's health. It's a great incentive for me to crack on with setting my own business up.
I do get warm hands and they tingle quite a lot too. When I was attuned to level 1 my feet tingled on and off for about three weeks, my nose did too, I felt like Samantha from Bewitched!
Now my head sometimes tingles and my hands tingle on and off even when I am not consciously asking for the reiki to flow. I am used to that now and know that either I need some or someone near to me does. This happens quite often in public areas such as in town or in the park etc.
I'm one of those people who always have cold hands and feet like ice blocks, so I tend to begin my treatments working around the head on the aura. My hands soon warm up and then I switch to being 'hands on'.
Everyone is different - I'd love to be able to see auras etc when doing treatments, hopefully that will develop with time.

Sarah, how did you get into healing horses? I'd love to do that
Hi Jo,
It was my horses that lead me to the Reiki
I had a wonderful black arab in 1999 - he nearly killed me on the road and I set to trying to sort him out where others before me had failed (I found out he should have been put to sleep as he'd thrown 30 trainers:eek:)
A lady who was not horsey in any respect found me through my riding instructor, she had just done her Reiki I and wanted to practice on a horse. To be honest by this point my horse was so bad and so angry you couldn't even get in the stable safely with him so I was a bit concerned for this lady who turned up in a nice flowing skirt with sandals on !!!! :o. Anyway she turned up and I held him (over the door as he was so bad) she just put her hands on him in various positions (he wouldn't let her touch him between the eyes) - she told me that she wanted to come back again and that he had no energy in his back legs (which I thought was rubbish as the little sod had thrown me onto the road through bucking - he had plenty of energy in his back legs to my knowledge!!) Anyway she came back a second time and this time he let her touch his head .. she then came back a third time and then she told me he didn't need her anymore and thanked me for letting her give him healing (which again I found odd at that point in my life!) After she'd gone I went back and looked at my horse, he was quiet and his eyes had changed from being wild and angry to soft and sorry. I realised then that although I never understood what this lady had done that I had to go on and learn it. I then went on to do my masters and my teachers and I have run Equine Reiki Courses for years, teaching people to connect with their horses.
My horse eventually went on to be healed completely and understood I sold him a little later on, understanding that he had been with me to bring me to Reiki so that I could heal others - he went on to compete at Horse of the year show a few years later with his new owner.
I have horses now (still Arabs) they are so susceptable to Reiki - and I have found through healing other peoples horses that they mirror their owners hang ups
The world never ceases to amaze me :):)

Thanks for sharing your experiences Sarah. I am a little scared of horses, but overcame my fear two years ago by having a riding lesson. On one of the occasions that my kids have been riding I was stood near a horse in it's stables and my reiki switched on. I put my hands on the horse and it seemed to love it, I stood there chatting to my friend whilst she was working there and must have given about 20 mins reiki! I know nothing of horses, but they do fascinate me.
It's great that horses brought Reiki to you
