Hi,
I just wondered if someone could clear up a something for me...

can reflexology be given to a client that has had d.v.t in the past?
If so how long afterwards is it ok to treat them?

Thanks! 🙂

You should not treat if recently had DVT/thrombosis ect
I am treating a lady who had it 9 years ago, and all is fine.

Thankyou Trinabeanbag,

The client had a dvt in 2007 and finished all treatment and medication for this in may 2008. so i presume it has been long enough since having the all clear from the dr to go ahead with recieving reflexolgy.

Thanks again 🙂

Hi, the easiest and safest way to find out the answer is to get the clearance from her Dr in writing to protect yourself and your client 🙂

You will be very fortunate to get any doctor to put anything of this nature in writing!

If they aren't receiving any medication at all for the clot and their GP doesn't state not to have Reflexology, then it is safe to treat.

I'm very pleased that the vast majority of Reflexologists are very much aware that DVT is the No. 1 contra-indication for our therapy and treatment shouldn't be given without serious consideration.
